  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok, got another question for the cognoscenti. My passenger side puddle lamp is out of focus. I assume this means something has become loose inside the puddle lamp. (Probably the side view mirror got hit by something.) The light is still working.

I don't want to spend the ridiculous amount of ~$180 for one lamp, so has anyone fixed a fuzzy puddle lamp before, and if so, is there anything to watch out for?

The factory manual makes it seem straightforward to remove the lamp.

Hey Marky just FYI, mine was out of focus as well when I bought mine ~3 mos ago. Took to local dealer two weeks ago, they ordered a new one and replaced under warranty; perfect now. You should be within your 5/60 and covered, no?

Naw, only have extended warranty. It’s supposed to cover stuff like this but I foolishly got a Ford extended warranty and they seem to take a positive pleasure in denying claims.
It’s a tertiary concern to be honest. It looks like a fun hour-long project when the weather cools off.

Yep, that's the never-ending headache with those 'other' extended warranties. I've had battles on other vehicles over the years and it's never fun. They take you money quick on the front but never want to pay on the back.

And I agree, it seemed finicky to me too to bring it up that 'logo is fuzzy' lol, but then again I wanted it working correctly (my OCD). The dealer ordered a new plastic logo piece for underneath so maybe just ordering and DIY replace will do the trick. Keep us posted.

there is a tread on here somewhere that was made on how to disassemble the mirrors to replace the auto fold motor if it fails.

the process seems very easy, just time consuming.

I would bet that thread would be helpful for you if you want to tackle the fix yourself. . probably not that difficult and like you said, most likely something got knocked loose (like the projector lens) and just needs to be reseated.

ok so I found the thread I was thinking of..

Power mirror gear. Anyone?

I thought the OP of that thread made a how-to. but I can't find that.. it is a gen 1 Genesis, but aside from looks the installation and basic function is the same
