so as stated in an earlier thread, I had some issues with my G80 that I had been holding on waiting for the next scheduled service, but then I got an alert on the Genesis App that I had a critical issue with the Electronic Braking System.
at any rate the issues I took the car in for where:
All items were addressed to my satisfaction,
I was very concerned about the panoramic roof being replaced, having had sunroof repairs on other brands in the past, large things like that tend to create more issues, rattles, buzzes, etc. But the tech did a very good job, you cannot tell that the entire inside of the car was removed (when I was there to look at it, everything was out of the car, seats, A,B,C pillar covers, headliner, rear windshield, etc.) Everything was properly replaced and aligned, nothing looks like it was reinstalled "half-assed" A professional auto-glass company was used to remove and replace the rear windshield, which has to be removed to properly remove the headliner, the vehicle was kept 2 extra days to be sure the primer for the rear windshield set correctly and seeing as there was a recall for the 2018 G80s for rear windshields popping out due to improperly cured primer, I'm glad the extra precaution was taken.
The steering wheel issue was an airbag cable issue, the paperwork simply says the airbag was replaced, the tech said the cable that attaches the airbag to the clock-spring was not properly installed causing it to bind up and fray the wires, he claimed he has seen many G80s and G90s with this problem. Has one wondering if someone at the plant needs some retraining.
The steering vibration was easily fixed with a balance and rotation.. Since the G80 Sport is staggered, I had them dismount the tires from the wheels then install them on the opposite sides, thereby making the former outside wall the inside wall. While technically they could have charged me for this request, they did not. This also allowed the TPMS to remain in the proper place.
loose drivers seat, well they took it out for pano replacement, so it was corrected on reinstallation.
All in all they had my vehicle for 10 days, but everything was fixed to my satisfaction and the noises and vibrations seem to be gone. The service advisor was very professional and while there was a little issue with initial lack of communication (he didn't convey to me that they were tearing my car apart to replace the pano, which upset me), he did take the initiative to make sure that the pano was properly replaced and everything (including my front and rear dash cameras) was properly reinstalled and working correctly before returning the car.
I was provided with a Sonata for a loaner during the entire repair time.
all in all I was satisfied with the service department and the outcome of the repairs, and would recommend them to other members in the Whittier/San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles.
at any rate the issues I took the car in for where:
- The App Monthly Vehicle Report indicated that there was a critical issue with the Electronic Brake System
- I have a rattle/buzz in my pano roof when fully open
- I have a grinding and buzz in the steering wheel when turning
- I have a vibration in the steering between 65 and 75mph.
- Loose Drivers Seat
