  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I pulled the horn fuse in the engine bay fuse box, and upon reinstalling it found that:

1. my voice commands had functionally gone off line, as if the mic was muted, even though after pressing the voice button on the wheel it would prompt 'ring'.... and then say 'pardon' and take me to the nav voice commands screen, but still unresponsive to voice commands

2. the system screen said that the SDS was 'in process'.. for over 1 hour

After shutting down the car, and restarting, the SDS message was gone, but the voice commands did not come back right away. It did eventually after about 15 minutes. I could find no setting which effected it (to start up again).

To test the fuse pull issue with certainty I yanked the horn fuse again today, and sure enough the same symptoms. This time the SDS remained on for several hours and the voice command mic remained off, though when the voice command steering wheel button was pushed, the 'ring' prompt would sound as normal, and after some time of it not receiving a command, despite my speaking in the normal ok voice, it would say 'pardon'.... and go to the Nav voice commands screen and remain unresponsive.

I reset the Nav system, and no change, though that did erase my address book settings and home setting. I later shut the car down and restarted it and everything went back to working.

No other fuses were touched.

Any ideas about this?

Probably they are on that circuit? Why are you pulling fuses?

I wonder if you'd get a different result if you pull the fuse a third time...:D

First time when I was about to remove the H logo from the steering hub.

Second time a day later to test it after I got the side effects from the first pull.

If everything is back to normal, I wouldn't worry. You'll likely never pull that fuse again.
