  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am coming from a 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8. So far I love my 2015 Genesis. So much more room and features. One thing I have noticed while driving (only about 200 miles so far) is sometimes the steering wheel pulls (or feels like it pulls) when taking curves while driving. I have lane detection turned on, so not sure if its that doing it or not. Thought I would ask to see if its just me not used to these fancy features, or something with the tires pulling when they shouldnt.

Welcome to the the Club! :welcome: Good choice *prejudiced.*

I too find the car occasionally seems to "take control" when I'm moving in the lane and I'm pretty sure it's WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ON. When I feel the car isn't moving fast enough, i.e. turns out I set the cruise limit too low and I hit the gas and drive, it feels like it's pulling back on me, feels a tad sluggish. As said, pretty sure it's when I'm "overdriving" past the low cruise point I set.

Although I also think you're right, and if you have the Lane Keep set to uh pre-sense or whatever the Genesis term is, (that's Mercedes term I think) don't feel like pulling out manual right now, I think it will pull the wheel to turn you back into lane. There are three Lane keep settings I THINK, that you set from the menu button - looks like lined paper on right on steering wheel and you can change when LK steps in if that's it and you don't like it.

Does that help any?

Thanks for the input.

Weirdly, when I used the cruise control on my way home last night, it didnt do it. Ive just noticed it when driving normally. I will give it more time to see if Im just tripping or if I have to take it to the dealer to see whats up. And I was testing to see if alignment and its goes straight as an arrow, so Im pretty sure its not that.

The Genesis does have lane KEEPING assist that will measure where you are in the lane and gently tug the wheel to get you back centered again. This works in conjunction with the lane departure warning and the haptic wheel feedback to keep you going straight and true :)

Hope this helps.

OK, thanks. I never noticed the wheel to vibrate like when I leave the lane, but this sounds exactly like what is happening to me. I just need to get used to it.

Thanks for clearing this up for me

Maybe its the G-Force when you take that curve at 120mph :)

What does your manual say about the lane keeping and can it be turned off/on?

This definitely happens to me when i shade the center line. I believe it's the lane keep assist believing that the lanes always apply.

Turn off Lane Keep Assist and your problem will go away. I only use this feature when taking long road trips as I like to control my own steering.

Ya, I decided to turn it off. Its very cool, but like you said, unless a road trip, useless IMO.

I am going to keep mine on for a while longer, for safety reasons. I did notice that using the turn signals when changing lanes temporarily turns off or interupts the lane departure feature.

I've had the exact same issue. Got my car less than a week ago and on the first longer drive I took it happened like three times. I did have my lane keep assist on but didn't think it was that, though I'm not positive. It didn't really vibrate when it happened it just sort of yanked the car. Never experienced that before aside for being on a motorcycle.

Have you experienced it again since taking off lane keep assist?

When I turn it off, it acts normal. No pulling. Have had it turned off for a week and just turned it on again and noticed it pulling. So that leads me to believe its part of the system in place.

Mine does it too. I agree, keep it off unless doing long highway trips

Another here. I turned it off after a week of owning the car. The system is too aggressive for my liking. Used in on a couple of long drives to Montreal and Buffalo.
