  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I plan on buying a 4.6 with nav, having trouble negotiating with dealer. Im going to be trading in my g35 coupe and they keep trying to pull the trick of negotiating the genesis price with the trade in value at the same time.

Anyways, they The TMV for the 4.6 with nav is 39100, what should i make my offer at?

Take the G35 to Carmax and see what they offer. That price will factor in the depressed auction market in this economy. If the dealer will match it or come close, make the deal.
Fwiw, my 4.6 with Tech was 39,100 also and I couldnt be happier with the price and the Lexicon. The car is ok too.
Btw, I saw your question re subs: the Lexicon is fully integrated with the Gen. Have you cranked the volume with good source material? Even if you don't have a surround source to test, have you tried your favorite CD? You may not need aftermarket subs.

Are you saying make the deal at their 44k price? what offer should i make on the car.

I havent really listened to the stereo and im sure that it sounds great, It is not that i think the lexicon doesnt have enough bass, its that i love extreme and outrageous bass. ( 2 alpine type r's with a 1600watt hifonics amp) Im just wondering if it possible to get the subs and amp installed without interfering with the lexicon speakers as well as the navigation system.

Don't know where 44K comes from, as the MSRP is $42,100. What I am saying is $39,100 is a great price IMO. Yes, you should offer around there. Ultimately whatever you deem fair is fair.
Can't answer your question about screwing up the Lex by adding subs. I have read that to duplicate it (the Lex) in the aftermarket would cost north of 10k.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I paid a few hundred more than 39,100 so if you can get it at that price I would say do it.

On the trade, look up trade value at kbb or nada as a starting point.

as for another sub, the integrated sub can rattle the windows if you push the volume , I can't imagine needing more.

My current g35 with my subs sets off car alarms and that the way i like it :) im just wondering if it possible to connect them to the genesis with lexicon system. I mean you can really install them in any car, i just wanted to see if anyone else did it and could fill me in.

Can't help you with the subs. But I can comment on buying the car. Since buying my Genensis about two months ago, I have seen prices/deals all over the map. The key is to work off of the invoice price and not the dealer applied sticker/msrp. You should be able to find this price at edmunds.com among other places. Do some homework and find the car you want on someone's lot. That also will help you as dealers want to move inventory. Especially what's already on the lot. Your real issue will be your trade. Speaking from experience, trading a car these days is not fun. You may want to take a shot for a month or so of selling the car yourself (autotrader or cars.com). You may come out better. You should also consider taking the advice of Backtohyundaibychoice and try Carmax if you live near one. They will at least let you know what to expect at the dealership. Either way, be prepared. It isn't going to be pretty! Good luck!

I can second the Carmax comment... The day I got my Genesis I spent the entire day driving to 3 different dealers. Got awsome price quotes for the Genesis, but the trade-in on my 07 Saab 9-3 Aero was a joke (range was $12 to $15K). Frustrated and tired I stopped by Carmax on my way home. They offered $18.5K. KBB trade-in was $17K. I drove straight back to the Hyundai dealer and made the purchase that night. The Saab went to Carmax the next day. Sale process was quick and painless (even with the lean I had on it). Carmax should be everyone's "baseline" if you are considering trading your car!

do you go to carmax and they give you a check for your car? or did you trade it in for a genesis AT carmax?

Carmax probably won't have any new Hyundai vehicles. Although some of the Carmax locations do sell new cars. I have sold them a car before. But not for the recent purchase of my Genesis. What you do is take your vehicle to Carmax. They will have someone inspect, assess, and probably drive the vehicle. They will then come back to you with a non-binding, free offer. The offer is usually good for 30 days and/or a certain amount of mileage. At that time, you either take the offer, or you walk away with an idea, in writing, of what you can get for your vehicle. If you take the offer, they will process the paperwork and give you a check. If you owe someone else for the vehicle, they will still buy the car and you will receive the difference from the payoff amount and what they offer. Of course if you owe nothing, you get the entire amount. Pretty easy, and at least you get a indication of what your car is worth as a trade. I know that sounds easy. It is. It is worth the time to see what your vehicle is worth prior to going to the dealership, all for free. Good luck!

Exactly what moose66 said... I got my Genesis at my local Hyundai dealer. Carmax just helped me dump my Saab. Unfortunately I had a small amount of negative equity so I had to give Carmax a certified check for that amount. The entire process was painless.

BTW I use Carmax to track the value of all my vehicles. They know me by name as I come in every year to see what my cars are worth via their free appraisal. I can then track the true value in MS Money. Once summer hits I'm taking the Genesis in... will be interesting to see what they offer me.

Good point about the negative equity. I falled to mention that clearly. You will need certified funds if you owe more than they offer.
