  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can anyone shed light on the production of the 2nd gen Genesis. Has anyone figured out production numbers for the 2015-2016 with a breakdown of colors / options?

I just bought a 2015. The door panel has a build date of 2/2014. Demo car? 1st production run? Does anyone have an earlier build date?

Either way its in great shape and hope to get a lot of life out of it. Looking in the computer systems they all have the latest software on them.

From what I can find, they went into production 2-12-2014, so yours is a very early production.

Wonder if that is a good or bad thing...

I had a dealer run it through their system. Just routine maintenance.

Mine actually has the full date on the door-panel?

Huh... so it does...2/11/14
The last 6 of your VIN # will tell you the production sequence. Will be FUxxxxxx. Imagine you have a lot of zeros in yours, but if it says FU000150 or something like that, yours was the 150th built.

I figured that number would be a lot lower. That's a lot of cars to build that early on, or, my catalog is wrong. Almost all parts in the parts catalog for the 2015 Genesis have a production start date of 2/12. Some are 3/1.

I ran your VIN, and it was a Hyundai corporate car for a short time.

Yeah thats what my dealer said too. Hopefully it was treated well. I figured being a dealer car any issues would have been quickly resolved as their "show" car. Can't have something janky running around when you are trying to drum up hype for your business. *shrug*
