question about the DRL lights as well as maps

Hello friends my first question is how do I keep my led strip drl on while driving without having to turn on the tail lights and stuff on.

Second question

In order to use navigation do I need a sd card installed first as well do I need to keep purchasing the maps SD card in order to stay updated on the latest routes. And is there a particular map sd card I have to purchase or could I purchase any Genesis map sd card from eBay.

You own a '15 model. Your DRL lamps are not what you think. Park in front of a store window to check out all the light stalk positions. The LED lamps you mention are merely accent lights that come on with the headlight and parking light settings. They are not daytime running lights.

As for the map SD card. I just removed the stock one and updated it through Hyundai website. I believe it contained the apple car play update also.


The '16s have DRL LED strips around the outside of the headlights.

Yes, sorry. '15 buyers were livid about that, but that was 2-3 years ago. Hyundai remedied it in 16. You have to wonder why Hyundai blew it with the redesign in '15. I expected it on my '12 too and was grumpy when I found it missing. After all, luxury buyers were expecting that feature. Duh, Hyundai!!!

More info about map updates: You can get them from MapnSoft. They usually come out every six months. If you have the base stereo (no DIS knob), there was a free update from Hyundai to add Apple Car Play and Android Auto (3D/birds eye view may have been in the same update). Log in to My Hyundai to see if it's still available.

I don't think the SD cards from eBay will work. When you purchase and download the update from MapnSoft, you need to enter your VIN to get an authentication code to use during the installation.
