  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Owner with a couple of specific questions I hope to get answers for.

First post here and am a 3 time Hyundai owner from a 2010 Elantra to a 2013 Sonata Limited and now a 2015 Genesis Ultimate. Like most others I agonized over this fog light issue and vaciliated between the 5.0 and a 2016, but settled on a left over 2015 because of the huge discount (over $13K off MSRP) along with the dealership near me having EXACTLY the color combo I wanted with no other either 5.0 or 2016 Ultimates within several hundred miles of me having what I wanted color wise.

I like to do mods and started with the trunk wings and mud guards that I added in the original purchase price. While I'm just starting out I and have already devised a no holes mod for mounting things like cup holders/whatever to the center console footwell area which I will share in the near future once I have the final version finalized. My next two mods are going to be adding the fog lights along with some footwell illumination. I already have the foglights and am in the process of designing and figuring out how I want them to operate and the associated wiring. I think I want to be able to control the foglights completely independently with three options ... 1) Off; 2) on for use a DRLs at about a 30% intensity; and 3) full brightness. I modded my Sonaat so I could have the fogs on w/o the headlights specifically for use say in heavy snow where low aimed lights only like fogs are the most beneficial w/o having the reflection of the higher aimed headlights blinding you. While this is a fairly low speed option I found in the couple of times I used them when snowing or extremely heavy rain this fog only optioned worked well for me.

Anyway I hope someone can help with a couple of specific questions which are:

1) Does any one have a ckt diagram of the fuze block and the connector pin outs for the connectors attached to it. Could you either post them here or let me know via PM if you want to send them to me via e-mail and we can coordinate that via PM here.

2) Does signing up for the Factory Manual service allow one to download the various pages in hopefully PDF format for later use only so I could download what I want for say a weeks worth of service since I won't need this ability long term or am I willing to pay for something I won't use very often.

3) Along the lines of #1 above does anyone have a source in the driver's side dash area for: 1) Ignition on/Acc; 2) Engine run; and 3) the illumination ckt. Also does anyone have a link or picture of how you remove the trim pieces off the center console.

My general plans for the fog lights are to use a factory dash board type switch from another vehicle mounted on one of three locations ... 1) on a space interior fuze panel if I can purhase one from the dealership; 2) on the center console on the driver's side just forward of the dash directly adjacent to the center console forward storage cubby; or 3) inside the center console forward storage cubby on the driver's side.

Along with having gotten the fog lights themselves, I have a reduced DRL automatic relay/timer harness along with the following two fog light switches below to see if either will work for my particular application

I'm sure I'll have some more follow up questions and look forward to being able to help others as I become more of a "seasoned" Genesis owner.

BTW if interested you can poke around my other PB albums and see the kind of mods I like to do on both my vehicles and travel trailer and how I like to document them. I hope to do the same here as things progress.

Thanks in advance,

Larry
