  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2014 Genesis R-Spec here. For the past couple months I've noticed at random times a warning light appears and quickly disappears on the dashboard LCD. It kinda looks like a red rectangle saying something about "check level". But it always disappears so quickly I never can see what it says. It happened again today as I was parking, but couldn't catch what it said. Did a Google search and the closest thing I could recognize was a low coolant indicator, similar to this (though not exactly the same). Coolant level is fine, according to the dipstick, so maybe I was parked on an angle or a sensor is misreading?

Does anybody know what it is?

Definitely not a cooling system fault. I've noticed it more regularly recently and have been able to get a good look at it. When I'm able to see the error is when the car is just started and I'm pulling away from a parking spot. I notice the steering feels heavier than normal and then look down and see the warning light.

It's not the little battery warning light on the left of the dash. It completely takes over the center LCD and says "Check vehicle charging system" with a red half full battery. I've Googled for more info on this but have come up empty handed. And it always goes away after about 2-3 seconds.

I changed the alternator about a year ago and the battery was last replaced at the dealer in June 2019 (3.5 years old).

I've been having more electrical gremlins than normal recently.
- The auto-down front windows stopped the "auto" functionality for about a month, but then started working again a couple days ago.
- The rear speaker just randomly started sounding blown.
- Lately the navigation voice from my iPhone (bluetooth) sounds crackly although music sounds OK.
- A few times a year I'll start the car and will go through a massive misfire session, so I turn it off and turn it back on and it's fine.
- A couple years ago the car's infotainment screen would go black and would not come back on for a couple days, then work fine afterward.
- A couple years ago the interior lights would randomly flicker.

** Correction: The LCD warning screen says "Check vehicle power system".

I see at least one other person on this forum has seen the same warning. Oddly enough when I Google the exact phrase "Check vehicle power system" only one post from Genesis Forum is returned. Seems like a really uncommon issue perhaps? Complete electrical failure

Finally was able to catch a video of it. As you can see, it's a very very quick warning. I've only seen it while backing up from a parking space, usually while turning the wheel at the same time.

Check the grounds.
