If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Just purchased a 2015 Genesis 5.0 today (my first Hyundai). Empire State Gray with black interior. Traded in a 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged due to high mileage. The Gen is def a different kind of car, but I love it so far.

Question: I have a Valentine 1 radar detector that I used today and it seemed like the x-band signal kept going off. I had this occur in my Audi Q7 and it was due to the sensors for the blind spot detector. Wanted to see if anyone else had any issues with the Valentine 1. Also, what other radar detectors have you all tried and like? Thanks, and I look forward to learning and sharing on the forum.

Escort MAX with Escort Live App with NSA like capability to know where the cops are 360 degrees. The Live system works real well. The Max has best range I have seen ever.. Way better than updated V1. I have had V1 since Mike Non compete was done. Took a bunch to break me free from V1s we have in the family.

Ok, Max has far less false alerts as I experience it.. And it learns with the built in GPS. 30 day no questions asked return if you do not like it.

I also have the V1. No false alarms on X band at all. Occasionally after receiving an alarm on Ka band, the alert will continue indefinitely. The fix is to turn off the detector and turn back on. The alert will go off. Only occurs very intermittently.

Beltronics Pro 500.
It has saved my a$$ all but once in the last 3.5 years.
It also detects speed/red-light camera.

I have a V1. I changed the mode (by pushing down on the knob) to mostly ignore x band. Nobody around here uses it anyways except for automatic doors and security systems. I would presume the x band nose is coming from in front of the dash. Blind spot detection and adaptive cruise, etc. operate at K band. The problem I have with the V1 is when I set my phone down in the charging area (to use waze) I'll get a laser detection when the outside lighting is dim. Presumably the phone's display is reflecting off the inside of the windshield and registering with the detector. I currently have the v1 on the driver side visor, but I may need to find it a new home. Where is yours mounted?

I have the exact same car and color combination. Love it too. I have my radar detector hard wired and mounted next to the drivers side pillar. I haven't had any false alarms on it, tho I did have one once that would go off whenever I user the remote mirror adjustment which made no sense to me. I am using a Cobra Vedetta with touch screen and GPS powered camera and speed trap alerts.

I have an Escort 8500, 10 years + old, I turned off the X signal years ago as door openers, etc., use this band, the cops use K, Ka and laser around here.

I currently have my V1 mounted on the windshield with the included suction cup mount. it's right in the middle, about 6 inches up from the dash. I am mainly getting constant alerts in the K band. I have the V1 connection for the iphone and am using the iphone app to try to cut down on the constant false alerts. I have already muted the X band since the cops don't really use it around here. I would really like to keep the V1 because of the arrows.

Turn x-band off, unless you live in jersey or ohio. If you have a smart phone, get the blue tooth adapter from V1 and you can use your phone as a remote screen, band segment, and all kinds of new tricks to help get rid of false from laser cruise control and side adaptive radar. The MAX is junk.

My Escort Max has been perfect so far, it gives very few false alerts and those will eventually disappear...typically in just a few passes along your route. I'm picking up KaBand around 3/4-1.25+ miles out on straightaways and 1/2+ mile with hills and curves which is more than enough time to slow down. It's best mounted center windshield at least 1/2 way down or more (lots of debates on this subject but overall that's where it seems to work best on my Genny). It's excellent detection capabilities coupled with Escort Live are a great combination and it's accuracy is pretty spot on. Everyone has their preference in radar detectors and this has been a nice upgrade from my 9500ix which we still use in the other car.

I also have a V1 and I have the V1 bluetooth connection and app. The alarm is 24.176 MHz and is constant I changed the profile to auto mute from the rear but its still a pain. I have another profile to turn off the K band. Its the blind spot monitoring. And yes some Audies will set it off also.
Do all Equus set it off? Is there a "leak" in the signal antennas? Just asking.
Otherwise the Equus is great with the exception of tire noise.

I have a 9500ix and have had no problems.. I'm contemplating using the hardwire cord or the direct wire tap into the mirror, anyone done it yet?

I have not done it yet but I am also contemplating using mirrortap type solution. Thanks to another forum member (genesis@genesisworld.com) I know how to get to the wiring harness but I have not had the time to look inside yet and see if I can figure out which wires to tap into.

The thread about getting access to the rear view mirror wiring harness is here:

You can enter the setup mode on the V1. check the web site for instructions. Set the TMF to on. This filters the traffic monitor filter on the k band from the rear. all the false alarms from Audis, MB and our own blind spot monitors go away.

Isn't TMF only on the latest version of the V1?

My V1 is one of the first versions with POP.

I mounted my detector below the rear view mirror. I had almost constant X and K band alerts. I had between 1-3 alerts for my entire trip.

I would love to fix this issue, hopefully without buying a new detector.

I did some additional reading. I think in order to filter out the unwanted signals, I need TMF2. This is a $200 upgrade to my newer V1 and a $280 upgrade to my old V1.

Any other suggestions?

I could also buy a different detector.

I called Valentine One to confirm and i am correct. I have to upgrade or replace my radar detector.

I am looking at competitive units. I really like many features of the V1, but I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a GPS, speed and red light camera database. I know that they upgrade the insides, but I think it is getting dated relative to the competition. But, the arrows and dual antennas will be missed.

If I get the Bluetooth adapter for my V1, will I be able to block the frequencies set off by the Genesis blind spot, lane keep assist, etc?

My detector is 2 revisions too old to have the TMF mode and I was wondering if this could be done manually with the Bluetooth adapter? What frequencies do you block?

^^ nope. And you will see ads where Mike Valentine personally says blocking out any frequencies by GPS or other means is a bad idea. If they have changed that mindset with the app, need to me.
