  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone hardwired a radar detector into their car?
Looking for some help on how to do it?
Cable needed?
Thanks.

I had my V1 hardwired. They ran the power from the overhead dome light. It seems to work, though I would have never considered doing it that way.

I hardwired mine. It sits on one of those sticky pads on the dash and I really like it there rather than mounted on the windshield. I used the wire that came with it and ran it to the passenger side fuse box (right on the side of the dash when you open the door). I took off the pillar cover next to the windshield and used a wire hanger to fish down into the fuse box. Stuffed the wire down between the dash and the windshield, put the pillar cover back on and you can't see a thing. It comes on as soon at the START button is pushed.

I use this product, Blendmount, extremely easy to mount and the power cable just slips into the molex connector that powers the rear view mirror. Nice location and inconspicous to boot. And it will be reusable for other cars as well. Highly recommend it.

I did mine using the fuse tap on the driver's side. see extensive postings on the topic for the location.
