  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone else had their parking sensors go off while just sitting still in traffic? My wife's 2019 G70 will have the proximity sensors randomly activate while sitting still in traffic and sometimes while moving down the highway.

We contacted Genesis and their response is we know there can be an error if you travel near an electric vehicle, electrical transformer or certain noises. They even sent her a video supposedly documenting this. But here is the thing....I have never seen this on any car other car I have ever been in. I travel almost weekly for work and have driven Hundai's, BMW, Fords, Chevy....you name it. I have NEVER seen this on another vehicle.

Am I going nuts?

...
It's not really random. For me, almost always there is a Ford or Lincoln in front of me when it happens (the very few other times, it is a different brand that I can't remember right now). Ford/Lincoln keep their rear parking sensors on even when they are going forward. Since pretty much all parking sensors are ultrasonic, they react to each other when they are close enough and both are active.

Did those other cars have front parking sensors that were enabled? You can disable the front ones on the G70 if it is a big issue for you.

You have not provided enough information to be able to tell if you are okay, going nuts, or already there...

We have video (she took it while I was driving) where the dash is lighting up and the car is going down the highway with absolutely no one in front of me for miles.

But I will keep track of what is in front of me at the next light and it happens. I appreciate the feedback.

Never had them go off while moving. They are supposed to be disactivated speed.

The system will operate automatically
every time the vehicle speed
is below 6 mph (10 km/h) with the
system switched on.
• When you move the shift lever to R
position with the system switched
off, the indicator in the button will
turn on and the system will operate
automatically regardless of button
status. However, if the vehicle
speed exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h)
when driving forward, the indicator
in the button will turn off. The system
will not automatically operate
again even if vehicle speed returns
to 6 mph (10 km/h).

Ford, Tesla, Range Rover are a few that will set them off. Probably made by the same supplier they interact at the same frequency.

12 mph....

Is that a year dependent thing? I have never noticed if the button stayed lit. Gotta go for a spin and report back.

The button remains lit all the time on mine, but the forward parking sensors do stop above some speed (12 sounds right). The button remains lit so that you know that you do have them enabled when you do slow down.

Note that the behavior of the light on the surround view button is a bit different.
