  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

And is there any way to turn it off? I mean all the way off? Turning the dimming setting all the way down still leaves it on, although not as bright.

Actually, the dimmer doesn't effect the light and cruise indicators at all...which makes it worse. You can dim the other instrument lights, but not the most annoying ones.

I admit the cruise control light is a little bright, but I wouldn't mind a little more "blue" in the inner ring of the main guages. But then again, my previous car was an Acura TL so the blue is familiar to me. Ugh I tried correcting the spelling error in the post title, but alas it's too late for that (embarrassed look).

Higher frequency wavelengths, like blue and green look brighter, but are harder to focus on and detrimentally effect night vision more. Note how blue lights seem to have a hallow around them and always look a bit out of focus. You can see it in the picture you posted. Stare at it and notice how the blue lines seem to have softer edges than the red. This is why orange lenses reduce glare (they block blue light.) This is why astronomers and other people that work in dark areas who want to keep their night adapted vision use red lights and not blue or green. Blue is a very bad color for instruments. Mixing it with a few intensely bright green lights is even worse.

Re: Really like this instrument guage...

What are all the icons on the map display? Mine does not have all those.

Looks like...

[top to bottom]
- directionality (north-biased)
- scale
- regular clock (current time)
- ETA clock? (time until destination?)
- distance to destination
- ???
- sound/volume indicator (toggle or level)

Honestly, I have no idea what model of GPS that is showing. AFAIK there are no North American models with those icons featured at any time. Think this is a European model shown? (It shows meters and kilometers, MPH as primary, and is overlaying a map of SW USA... I'm admittedly confused).

Nice, isn't it? I wonder if HMA is bringing over that color LCD cluster for MY11.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it. It's a feature on the Equus, and the more things they add to the Genesis, the less compelling the Equus will be, especially at a $10-15K uplift. So things like lane departure warning, automatic trunk lid, motorized folding mirrors, rear side sunshades, color instrument cluster LCD, and the like may not make it into the refresh.

After going outside and messing with things, I now think it's a development build of the GPS in the photo. The scale is off for that map view. There's no current time clock display in the Lexicon/DIS. ETA clock and distance under normal route guidance is shown along the top of the screen, not along the left as shown. Where "GPS" is shows either nothing normally or "Traffic" where XM NavTraffic is available.

The distance to destination icon is available but generally available only when you move the joystick cursor (shows crosshairs in the icon, not a destination flag). The ??? you have above is the compass direction to that point.

Finally, the icon at the bottom is a toggle. It disappears if route guidance voice prompts are on, and it shows up if they are turned off. The icon itself is a road with a speaker with a red X on top of it.
