  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been looking at adding a UNAVI navigation system as soon as I get my Genesis Sedan. I've talked to David from www.carlighttrends.com about it in great detail and I truly think that for the money its worth adding a UNAVI to a non-navigation genesis.

OMHO an OEM navigation is very limited as to what can be done with it (I understand why) one of the things that has bug me in the past with OEM navigation is the cost of updating or the lack of updates. What I like about the UNAVI is the fact that it integrates into the car, by replacing the front part of the OEM radio with the new screen and interface.

What David was telling me is that the UNAVI system keeps the OEM radio brain (the back part) of the radio so this way everything is retained because the only new part is the screen which is where the navigation is stored. It looks completely OEM as far as the fit and finish.

Have you seen one demo'd? How easy is it to search for addresses? I'm sure searching for addresses and such is much easier than on the stock system, by virtue of the fact that I'd be hard-pressed to design a worse means of searching than the stock system, imho. The software designers of the stock system really need to look at an Android phone, where you just click on voice search, and say "Navigate to (address)." Searching for iPod songs on the stock system is even worse than searching for addresses.

In any case, the only potential drawback I see is the replacement of the radio controls with digital facsimiles. I'm not a fan of the Apple way of thinking of replacing controls that have a tactile feedback, you know, physical buttons, with on-screen equivalents, especially when trying to find a radio station while driving down the highway:

If they had a replacement for the nav/DIS in the tech package, I would honestly seriously consider it if the software were better(that's how bad the interface is imho).

Yes I have there are quite a few videos on you tube, I just seem the find the way to embed a video here from youtube.
Heres a link to the video:http://youtu.be/yJplqWYZlhE

You'll see in the video that the address look up is even more straight forward than a tomtom. I have a few more questions for David over at www.carlighttends.com but over all it looks to be a very good navigation system for a genesis owner who does not have navigation.

I forgot to say, that I'm sure that a good car stereo shop would be able to make this work on a car that OEM navigation. Its just a matter of having a wiring diagram and some good working knowledge of automotive 12v installations.

I agree. Stock nav is for the birds. I wish we had that option as well.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'd not heard of this product before today. Before I would have the product installed I'd want to hear testimonials from owners of Genesis who ahve had the system put into their car.

I attempted to contact the company through their website and after three days never received a reply. If they don't respond when you're looking to buy their product I wonder how they;d respond when you need warranty service.

I talked to David over at www.carlighttrends.com, that is where I found the product.

I also tried contacting the company directly and same thing no reply, I don't think that they sell to the public. I've been in contact with David, who seems to deal in OEM looking GPS systems for just about every make of car brand, he knows his stuff. Give him a call or email.
