If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I apologize if this has been discussed, but I searched and didn't see anything. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a GV70, but I have a fairly bulky rear facing car seat that sits in the middle of the back seat. It will be there probably another year before becoming front facing.

I'm concerned that there isn't going to be enough room back there without me having to move the driver's seat up too far. Does anyone out there have a rear facing seat in their GV70?

I know I can go to the dealer and check it, and I will, but I'd rather have some insight from others who have the car first if possible.

mwm40 -- car seats vary in size. Drivers vary in size. There is virtually no way someone else's experience will be valuable to you.

Solution: Go to the dealer, go directly to the dealer, do not pass GO, do not collect $200

Just got back from the dealer and it's not going to work unfortunately. I had my heart set on this, so I'm extremely disappointed. The seat fit, but I had to move the driver's seat up too far for me to be consistently comfortable. I'm 5'10" and I like to have the seat maybe slightly further back than average, but not a lot. The child seat is a Graco 4Ever, which is one of the bulkier ones, but I'm not sure there are other quality seats that would be that much different. It's a bummer.

been here, done this, with Grandkids.........

Measure the Graco - then get to Walmart (or the retail store of your choice)_ bring a tape measure. Compare.

Good Luck

FWIW I have a Chicco NextFit Zip Max in mine and it's a behemoth, but I have it mounted on the passenger side. There's sufficient room for my wife (5'7") or another similar sized human in front for short trips, but I don't think it would be feasible for longer ones. Baby seems comfy though.

Something I'm considering - since we need another convertible seat for my wife's car anyway - is getting one of the rotating car seats like the Evenflo Revolve 360. You can rotate it to face you to get baby in easier, and as an added bonus I imagine you can flip it around to front facing when baby isn't in the car to make some more room for a passenger to move back.

For sh*ts and giggles, here's what happened when I dragged the Chicco Monstrosity 5000 into a Cadillac dealer and test fit it in the new CT4-V Blackwing, which I'm considering for my next car. Basically on par with the G70 for room, but hey, it "fits!"

That Chicco is the one my wife has in her Mazda CX9 and it's a tight fit for even that one. Heavy as hell, but supposed to be very safe.

I hadn't heard about the Evenflo. I'll have to look into it. Turning it when the kid isn't in the car would be a great feature to have. We use my wife's car when we're all going somewhere, so the one in my car is mostly going to daycare and back or very local things.

Is the Graco noticeably bigger than the Chicco? I was wondering if there were convertible seats which just didn't take up as much space back to front, but whenever I read about the "size" of car seats in review, it seems they're always talking about how WIDE the seat is, not that it allows more or less front seat space

Edit: I will say that the Chicco does look very safe, and I feel much better with baby in there as opposed to the newborn seat (Graco ClickConnect)

For posterity - because I know people in the future are going to google "Genesis G70 baby seat" - today I bought the Evenflo Revolve 360 and installed it in my G70. It was a bit of a bear to install, and I haven't had a chance to put baby in there, but at the proper recline angle it actually takes up a little less front seat legroom than the Chicco Nextfit Zip Max, and as I suspected you can whirl it around when the baby isn't in the car to give you much better passenger front seat room.

Twirling feature for easy baby-loading seems pretty cool as well, though you're still dealing with a low roofline.

Thanks for the pic. I'm thinking I'm going to get one of those instead of the Graco Slimfit I just bought. It fits in there and leaves more room than the other Graco, but it's still a touch tighter than I'd like, but definitely doable unlike the other Graco. The Slimfit was the top on most reviews for best car seats for small cars. Graco's in general are a pain to get the base tight.

The other issue I have is that my wife is very insistent that the seat be in the middle when it's rear-facing. It's the reason she didn't wind up with an MDX last year when we got her car. In the trim we needed for the options we wanted, it only had pilot seats in the back. She loved that car, but wound up with a CX9 because of the back seat. In the GV70, the center seat is shorter than the others by a decent amount and the base of these seats is hanging off a little more than I'd prefer. It was barely over the edge in my Maxima, but in the GV70 (which I pulled the trigger on 2 days ago), it's over the edge quite a bit.

FWIW after using the Evenflo for a couple of days I've decided to return it. The rotating feature is handy, but I don't find that the harness cinches tight enough to make me comfortable that he's securely in there. Also, there's some play in the seat in the base which I was told is normal, but it just doesn't feel as solid as the Chicco. For some reason, the shoulder strap pads are sewn to the back of the seat and can't be adjusted, which I find annoying. Finally, the thing rattles like a mofo when there's no baby in there, and I can't stand rattles.

Very disappointed, as the only rotating seats on the market are this and the $500 Cybex seat. Hopefully some good competition will come in the future because I love the idea, but the execution (in my opinion anyway) leaves something to be desired.

Just realized I posted this in the G70 forum instead of GV70. Not sure if there's a way to move it.
