  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone know of a way to silence the beeping noise when the rear hatch door raises and lowers? Besides pulling a fuse. I had an electric G80 as a loaner last week, it also had a power trunk, but no beeping noise.

I don't know the answer because my GV60 is in the shop for the recall. But they gave me a 2023 electrified G80 as a loaner. The G80 has the older infotainment system while the GV60 shares the newer one with the G90.

So a lot of the commands, and especially the menu system, etc., are different.

Hmm, they gave me a 2023 eG80 and it seemed similar to my GV60. I really couldn't tell any difference. But, I only had it for a day and a half when they serviced and did the seat belt recall thing.

How are you liking the electrified G80?

The infotainment systems are similar but not identical. It is like going through a windows update from Windows 10 to windows 11. It is not identical but it is similar.

My biggest complaint about the G80 is not really about the car -- it is about the fact that Genesis won't let me set up the app for a loaner. That means in hot Arizona I can't precondition the car interior.

My second complaint is, again, not the fault of the G80. I prefer a small vehicle but still want luxury and power. That is what the GV60 gave me. The electrified G80 is too big for me but not for most people (who actually prefer a larger vehicle -- I am weird).

My only complaint centered on the car is storage. For such a large vehicle the trunk is tiny and the second row seats don't recline. My son was picking up a 50" television from Costco and he has car seats for his young children in the back row of his car. I said no problem, we can put it in my car. Lo and behold, it won't fit.

I think this is a flaw attributable to the fact that it is an electrified version of an ICE vehicle so the battery storage is not optimal.

Other than the storage issue, I think it is a fine car.

I have one other issue but it is again, not the fault of the car but of the designers. Many of the steering wheel controls on my GV60 are on the opposite side from the G80. Why? It seems to me senseless to make that kind of change (I am not sure which is a change and which is a continuation). It seems to me that too often automotive designers make changes for the sake of changes. I want changes that improve the driving experience but not change for change's sake. I don't care which controls are on which side...just leave them there! I want to use muscle memory where I can and keep my attention focused on driving, not finding the control button.

I enjoyed my time in the car. But I noticed the same thing about the steering wheel controls, they are that way in our Ioniq 5, gets confusing sometimes.
