If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anyone have an idea why the far right wire, the ignition wire, is unable to be tapped?

I have been trying to tap into the ignition wire on the mirror and it seems impossible. Kept breaking mirror tap pins. The ground goes in pretty easily. Decided to take a pic to see what the hell was going on. There’s literally no space for a wire tap it seems. The ground was fine and as you can see, there is space for the other wires too. It's just the ignition wire that seems to be an issue.

Thanks!

I was unable to tap it either so I have it tapped into the always on wire and it works fine. My radar has an auto off feature but I also don't mind turning it on and off myself.

Mine was really tight but I kept working with the thinnest mirror tap and it eventually just slid in. I was about to the point of just getting a posi-tap and tapping the wire.

Yeah I've tried now two different brands all with different size taps and nothing seems to work. Mine looks completely blocked.

Maybe if/when I get a dashcam installed I'll also hard wire the radar detector to the fuse box...for now I guess I'm dealing with the wire down to the lighter.

You can tap into the other wire and it will be just fine. The radar will stay on with your car off unless you turn it off, and it won't turn on unless you turn it on. Really not a big deal and worth it to have the cleaned up look.

Persistence. I remember having the same issue, even with the smallest sized mirror tap.

Shave down the mirror tap slightly in both width and thickness with a Dremel. Then try using an extremely small flat-head screwdriver to gently persuade the wire to give you enough room on the bottom; if that fails try the side, you'll still be making contact with the metal.

any idea which size Posi-Tap will work on this wire? I'm having the same issue, Negative is fine but I cannot get the mirrortap into the IgnitionON, there's no room and I don't want to force things and possibly damage the harness
