  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yup - 2 are old news and most of us had these fixes done.

The 5.0 ECM/Lamda O2 sensor one is a new issue that I had not heard of yet - weird as it lumps issues with 2 different engines together (Lamda is the 3.8)?

Thanks for posting!

these types of recalls really show hyundais clear focus on quality and reliability. you will never get these type of recalls with ford and chrysler and GM.

I didnt even know I had cowl issues with my 5.0.

Just checked and there is no O2 sensor recall showing for my 2015 3.8 AWD? Maybe just a 5.0 item, but then why the Lamda reference?

Oxygen sensors are actually known as "Lambda sensors." So "Lambda" in the recall notice refers to the O2 sensor itself, not to the engine family.

Thanks - I didn't know that!

Just had my car in for an oil change & tire rotation yesterday. While there they did the ECM update. Service Tech said it was a reprogramming task that had to be done to the 5.0's. That is all that he knew about it. No noticable difference in the way that it drives.

I also checked their showroom and no 2016's yet. They still have (5) 3.8's and (5) 5.0's on their lot to sell.

Guess I will be getting these done when I get the oil changed after returning from out west. thanks for sharing.

Had mine done today. Under normal driving I can't tell a lick of difference. Under WOT however, and I'm going to say right now this is probably the Placebo effect, it seemed like the engine was more aggressive? I had the engine in ECO mode and it sounded like it was in sport. It could also be that the ECU, having been reset, is re-learning driver tendencies... or something. The only reason I'm mentioning it is to see if anyone else noticed the same.

If that is the case, its WOT for me the next few weeks:D

does the 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 method work with the gen 2?

I must agree. I put it to test on the ride home yesterday, both in ECO and Sport modes and there does seem to be even a more pronouced exhaust note Aquineas. I too am interested to see if other 5.0 owners who has had this recall performed, if they notice any difference.

Can anyone post the details of the 5.0 O2 sensor recall? I have had all other recalls performed on my 5.0 (except the tires), but that one was not out when I brought the car in for service.

I don't want to be a nit picker, but technically it is not a "recall." Instead, it is service program, or it could be a "campaign."

A "recall" has to be filed with the Federal government, and almost always is safety related. When there is a recall, the manufacturer is required to notify customers directly (usually by mail) to bring their car in for the repair. An example of a recall was the replacement of the tail-light diodes on the first generation of Genesis (which could cause the tail lights to fail if the diode failed).

A service program or campaign is something that is not typically communicated to customers, but is done by dealers when a customer brings in their car for some other service, or if a customer complains about something that is fixed with a service program. In some cases, a fix is not applied unless the customer complains, if the problem does not affect all eligible cars (and if it not a potential safety issue).

This explains why Genesis owners don't always know about all service programs or campaigns.

At Hyundai, a TSB (technical service bulletin) can be issued for a service program, campaign, or recall, or just for general information that was not included in the original documentation published (owners manual, or service manuals).

Service Advisor said they did the re-program on mine while they were doing the tire swap.
I didn't notice any difference from Before to After with the re-program.
This is what my Repair Order said:

Out of curiosity, why did you have the tire swap done now? How many miles were on your car?

I didn't plan on doing it so soon. I only had 1800 miles on the car. However most of the miles were local at lower speeds under 70. The first trip I took out of town and began driving at speeds around 75, I was getting a significant vibration, with even the hood vibrating.
The service advisor said they wouldn't spend any time attempting to balance the Hankooks and I was about to take a second 1200 trip, so I just gave them the go ahead to swap them out. Can't really complain. The Continentals were very smooth (even @ 120mph ) and seem to have very little flat-spotting when cold.
