  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Searched for this and didn't find any matching message. In the past few weeks, when I'm driving home after work at night, and the temp has dropped, I've tried engaging the cruise control on the freeway.

A few times, and I thought it was temp related, I get a red warning icon on the dash to the right, that looks like a car/gauge/! ... but I just looked thru the owners manual and it appears to be the SCC (Smart cruise control) malfunction indicator... The warning light illuminates when the vehicle to vehicle distance control system is not functioning normally. Take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked. And from time to time, the parking proximity sensor goes a bit wonky and when I am driving and come to a stop, it alerts me somthing is ahead of me when it's clear... are the two systems related? I have extended warranty and prob need it checked.

Yeah, my Genesis cruise control works sometimes for maybe 15 miles then the red error icon and it’s off line again. Replaced the “controller” because service said there was an internal ”fault” (don’t think so.) and it made no difference anyway. Now it works “on occasion” for 15 minutes then,, yellow triangle with exclamation point followed with red icon.. Not used to electronics working “on occasion”,, either works, or it’s trash,, weird on this one.. Feeling the service team (?) at the Hyundai/Genesis dealer are somewhat outclassed on what should be a reasonably easy fix, sort of lost the little faith I had.. 🙄🤔

Intermittent HECU (ABS module) failure or pending failure can cause this, when it fails for good you can lose all braking in one or more wheels.

I had it happen to me on my 2012 and lost brakes in one of my front wheels while evacuating Hurricane Irma in 2017. Hauling the family, 10 gallons of gas in jerry cans in the trunk and other cargo in stop and go traffic on the highway for 12 hours with one of my front brakes gone and the car yawing pretty hard... was not fun at all.

Get your car fixed. Might save your, or someone else's, life.

Had this happen with my previous 2012 R-Spec. Was from cold weather somehow obstructing the sensor from functioning. Even cleaning the outside of it did not help. It would resume normal function temperatures warmed up. It was a pain - especially on a long trip south. Can't remember is the 12 had the option of regular cruise AND smart cruise, but my 15 has that. I've used regular cruise when a two lane freeway is overcrowded and smart cruise continually hits the brakes as cars get busy lane hopping.
