  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Remote Folding Mirrors?

I have a 2009 genesis with the Tech package. I would really enjoy having electric folding mirrors and cannot figure out why Genesis omitted this feature, yet has it on the Azera.

Anyway, I found a source who state that the Genesis in Korea does have remote folding mirrors and they will sell me the mirrors, wiring harness and have them pre-painted to match the vehicle.

My local dealer is willing to install them BUT, we cannot confirm that the wiring harnesses on the Korean version and the USA version are identical with the Tech package, so that the folding mirrors would just "plug in", and of course a switch would have to be added to activate the fold.

Does anyone know the answer?

Thanks

Seems that the Korean models have a lot that we don't get here in the good 'ole USA. All four doors on my 4.6 Genesis have a red lense on the rear edge of the door, but there is no light and no wiring going to the lense. My wife's 2006 Hyundai Tucson (and my old 1998 Volvo S70) have the red lenses on the doors, and they light up when you open the door. Why would Hyundai put a non-functional red lense on all four doors in a $42K-class car yet put a functional one in my wife's $18K Tucson, especially when they did put the puddle lights on the bottom of the doors and the funky blue "GENESIS" lights on the door sill? Maybe the interior door panels are universal, but the wiring harnesses is not?

There are some aftermarket Korean import websites out there that should answer your question. I believe they even sell the control panel button to install it on your car.

I found a source for $545 including the painting, switch and wres. They are not returnable. My dealer says he will install them providing the wiring harness supplied, just plugs in. He is not going to start cutting wires and even if so, the cost would be astronomical.

I also picked up a third proximity key which is needed for the remote start, and now Genesis they can only program two keeys, which would leave me no spare! I need a work arond for that also.
