  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This past month I’ve noticed when I remote start my ‘19 G70 and have my a/c temperature pre-set to 70, when I get in the car the air is blowing from BOTH the floor vents and dash vents. In normal driving using a/c I ALWAYS just have the dash vents only on but somehow it switches to both floor and dash when “remote” starting? Once I close the door however it immediately goes back to only dash vents. The only reason I’m asking is I prefer only dash vent blowing since that flows much harder and cools the car way faster. I don’t recall this happening last summer so wondering if it was a software change sometime recently that switched it?

I've never noticed it, but will look out for it next time I remote start.

It probably is a feature though. The system tries to rapidly cool down the car so it blows air through all the vents. Theoretically that'll lead to more volume of cold air flowing through more of the car than just having the last preset on, aka dash vents.

Can Anyone else confirm this? Again have a/c preset to blow thru front dash vents only but when remote starting they switch to dash & floor, which doesn’t cool car nearly as quickly in my opinion. (Especially like a day we had today at 109 degrees in N CA)

I usually only use my remote start in the winter and I do believe air is blowing out of everywhere when I first get in

When it comes to comfort, physiology trumps physics.

Bhavie is right from the perspective of physics. When the floor and middle vents are both open the air conditioner will cool a larger volume of air per second. The average temperature of the air in the car will drop more quickly. (whether or not anyone is in the car)

rbres is right from the perspective of physiology. When only the middle vent is open a smaller volume of air is cooled, but that air is a tiny bit cooler, is traveling at a slightly higher velocity, and targets their face and upper torso more effectively. As a result the skin that is affected by the air conditioned breeze feels colder faster.

The fact that the entire volume of air in the car gets colder more slowly is far less important than the fact the rbres feels colder more quickly.

I like what the engineers and programmers did in this case. When nobody is in the car, ignore what the prior occupent's preference and do the job as efficiently as possible. When the occupant enters and the driver profile is set, do what they prefer.

Couldn’t have said it better!! Still pissed though 😉

I remote start all the time here in AZ. It always defaults to dash face vents only on remote. I drive with the dash / floor to push the cold air under the seats for the ventilated seats and I have to reset it once I get in.

Have you tried changing the defaults in the app? You can have four choices and you can choose what you want for the default.
Push and hold the start button. On the next screen customize what you want and select it as the default.

The settings only adjust temp or if you want front defroster on. Has no effect on the air flow out of the face or floor vents.

It’s the opposite for me though. I keep it on dash vents only while driving and when using remote start it defaults to floor and vents. But once I get in and CLOSE the door it reverts back to my original dash only setting. Weird.
