  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if there is a way to provide longer idling time through the remote app? Seems to be capped at 10 minutes which during these super cold winters isn't enough and what's more, if you miss getting in the vehicle after 10 minutes and try to start the car, it won't. The battery has been drained too much. I've had this happen twice now. Yeah I know, I should get in my vehicle before 10 minutes is up, but really, I should be able to adjust this especially for -30c/-22f. file.webp

Never had a battery issue, but would prefer it to be longer. Doesn’t warm up enough in Chicago as well.

Good to know, I think this has only really happened when it's super cold. -30 (not even considering the wind chill) is pretty damn cold. There is no block heater as well so that doesn't help. Maybe I've got a weak battery. Warranty!

I don't know if a block heater is available but there are dipstick heaters that could help.

Alternative is to send your wife out to sit in the car until warmed up for you. Then she can send you a text when at your comfort level.

Some states have limits ranging from 0 to 3 minutes of idle time with heft fines. Others 10 minutes.

I think you can only do the remote start 2 times before you have to actually get in the car. If so, you could set one of the presets to just start the engine without all the optional heaters (seats, steering wheel, etc.) the first time then use the "loaded" preset the second time you remote start the car.

LOL pretty sure my wife would tell me where to go if I did that ;)
