  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2010 V6 with about 27000 miles had a fluttering engine noise at low speeds -- the noise went away above 30 mph. I took it in to the dealership and I was told that the engine needed to be replaced (under warranty of course) and that it had been ordered. That was over three weeks ago and they are still waiting for the engine to arrive! How long is it reasonable to give them?

Might need to get it from Korea. Did they say what part of the engine has the problem?

It is the whole engine -- about a 10000 dollar warranty bill, including installation labor is the estimate. I think you are right about it coming from Korea. I sure miss my Genesis, and ther is no credible estimated repair time!

I understand they are going to replace the engine, but was wondering what the original problem was. Just because they replace the entire engine does not mean that every part of the engine failed at the same time.

A Hyundai parts website shows that the retail price of the 2010 Genesis V6 is $11,787.66.

I got a bad engine in a 1989 Mazda 929. It was a wonderful car. The engine developed a knock at about 7000 miles. dealer had the car about three or four weeks getting and installing a new engine as I remember. I hope they gave you a loaner to use.

I don't know what exactly was wrong with the engine -- every time I've asked the technical person who knows has not been available (happened again today). I'll ask again.

I'm hopeful that this is an outlier situation and everything will be fine with the new engine. The dealership has given me a decent loaner, which is good. Still, I want my car back now... :-)
