  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had picked up a screw from work due to some construction going on .. passenger rear tire. Had an oil change at the dealer and asked if they could look at the tire. They rotated all the tires and told me there was no screw or leak on that one tire. Now this tire is on the front passenger side. I had to show them were it was located. They would not patch the tire because it was to close to the side wall. I said ok. They wanted 291.00 to replace the tire. I told them I would check out Discount Tire. He agreed and I was on my way. At Discount Tire they ordered me a new tire and I waited a week to get it put on because of my work schedule. I finally brought it in this weekend. This is what I got .. Michelin Primacy All-Season 235/55r19 101V tire. I immediately called back and told them they put the wrong tire on my car. They told me to come back in and they would look at the tire. I went back and they trying to tell me this is the replacement tire for this car. I told them no it was not. This is a lower rated tire and load bearing and not to mention the tread pattern is different also. He tells me it is the same. How can a V rated tire be the same as a W rated tire?? It says it right on the damn tire. I showed them Tire Rack has them in stock .. he didn't care. I told him if you can't find a replacement then put my punctured tire back on and I will go purchase else where. I got till next week. P.S. They love loosing your valve stem covers and just put on whatever in place of the lost one. I paid 10 bucks for 4 new caps from Amazon. Now I got all silver a one black valve cap. Jez. Discount just called back and said they found the tire which is 60 dollars more than the wrong tire. They will have it by Friday. The dealer warned me that there are two kinds of Primacy tires out there.

Did your “punctured” tire leak? I got an identical diagnosis during an oil change. I would not let the dealer order a tire. Over 3 days and about 100 miles the tire lost no air (based on the pressure shown). I pulled the screw and saw that it was too small to reach the cords.
$300 saved.

Replacing one tire of a different spec is on one wheel is not a good idea. My daughters car had a puncture . She drove on it too far as she was coming home late from work and it was not safe to stop. Anyway she got the tires at Costco with the road hazard warranty . Costco said the tire was no longer made by Michelin even though she had it only a year . They wanted to put the ‘ replacement “ tire on the one side.

She ended up buying two so at least the same tire is on the fronts and back. She asked if they could get some relief from Michelin since they discontinued the original tire. Got no where .
