  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am trying to replace my backup camera in a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan 3.8. I can't seem to find any videos or manuals of this any help would be great.

are sure its your camera? i bought mine with the trunklid taillight, license plate lights, and camera not working. it turns out there is a harness that runs down the right hand side hinge thats known for snapping. i would start there. if you do need a new camera i have one that the dealer bought me. i will be willing to let it go for cheaper than msrp

Welcome. Moving this discussion into the second generation Genesis Sedan section...

Search for "trunk latch" or "trunk latch cover" in this forum. The rubber cover on the outside deteriorates and a lot of us have had to replace that part. The camera is mounted on that part and is removed and then replaced in the process of completing the repair. Lots of good info here as to how to remove the trunk liner and then the trunk handle unit.

Hello,

My 2015 3.8 Genesis sedan is having a back up camera problem. I seem to have isolated it to the pig tail from the camera at the point it plugs into the wiring harness in the trunk lid. i believe it is a short or open wire in the pig tail because if i play with it when car is in reverse the camera will come back on the display.

How much are you selling your camera for. I could attempt to cut and re-splice the six or 8 wires but a new camera and pig tail with connector would be cleaner.

Thanks,
Brian

Its a pretty short pigtail. Its probably the harness. I would try to resplice it. Heres the link. If you scroll down youll find the TSB on how to fix it.

Did you fix the issue? I am trying to get the rear cam out of my 2012 Genny SEdan and that damn trunk lid panel, getting the clips out that hold it on is a bear..

Were you able to do it? I have a failed rear camera on my 2012, and getting that trunk lid panel off is a bitch. I can get the inside black cover removed, and I can get the lights removed, as well as necessary nuts (10mm). What I am having an issue with is what I believe to be the show stopper. Those cheap-ass plastic retainer pins that appear to be holding the lower portion of that trunk lid cover in place.. I nearly have the tabs squeezed to retracted mode, but even so I try to push up on the panel or pull it to gain access to the rear camera and it won't budge. Is there something hidden I have missed? I'm not going to wreck the plastic pins there until I have a set of them to replace any ones I break.... I can't for the life of me figure out why they made this damn thing so difficult to get to (that rear camera).

Update: I was able to find and order spares, so If I have to destroy any I am spared grief.

From HyundaiPartsDeals.com

As an addendum, I've also been looking for a "Center Console Shifter Bezel", also known as a Cover Assembly - Console Indicator #84655-3M085-N8. Now from various sources (including the above mentioned site), the price is around $500!. I kept looking and eventually found a source in, of all places, DUBAI. They love Gennie there, so the prices are (apparently) good. This same cover/panel (the part that goes under the shifter) is like $93. There's a $15 surcharge added because the order would be under $300 USD. Shipping from Dubai is about $45 via FedEx, etc. SOO, to be sure I have contacted them for part verification before I order. The site is www.carmarka.com ...
