Replacing Battery - Looking for some advice

So my battery is slowing dying on me. Died on me for the first time last night and when I checked this morning with a multi-meter it was around 12.06 (not 12.6) so yea I needed a replacement. Just in case I checked the alternator and that's working fine. Pick one up and now looking to replace it, but I have a couple questions for this esteemed group of smart individuals.

1. would anyone know for certain whether just replacing the battery without a tender will keep its memory settings? From the posts I read/searched there's some confusion on whether they are lost or not.
2. If they will be lost - Is there a way to use a Lith-ion Jump Starter as a battery tender? (I have a Aukey that works really well) OR can you just use a second car and hook up to that battery till you put in the replacement?

Funny, For #2 I thought the latter would have been more common/obvious but I've not found anything concrete to say that this is acceptable.

From what I have seen when doing my amp mod, there is very little settings you lose when you disconnect the battery. There were a few like i had to change back from F to C and my trip meters were reset but i didn't notice any difference in driving and all my map/audio etc settings stayed the same.

I actually recently had an experience with this; went to Advance Auto Parts only to find out they don't help replace the batteries if they aren't under the hood (that might've just been me not reading the fine print - so user error).

This was the first time I ever changed a battery, and it was pretty straight forward since its easily accessible in the trunk. I didn't lose any settings save for the trip meter like lopedogg mentioned - and all my radio presets and seating memory remained saved.

I have a 2015 3.8 Genesis with the Tech Package if it makes a difference. I had zero corrosion or other issues and I've had my car for over 5 years (so the battery was long overdue for replacement). Your mileage may vary, but I did make an effort to try and be as quick as possible with the battery swap. I then charged it overnight with a tender to get it to full voltage and its been perfect every since.

In case you're looking for a battery, this was the same exact one I purchased and its been working great (Link). You can find some good coupons occasionally since I ended up paying $170 USD with taxes out the door. I was originally quoted around $400 from a dealer in NYC.

One thing to note, the battery I got had the vent tube hole blocked on the side I need to connect too. I took a pair of pliers and easily removed it and swapped it into the front facing hole on the battery. I unfortunately did this while the new battery was already installed... so I recommend you do it before putting it into the back of your trunk for easier access if you have to do it

The choices I had for battery were limited and living in Canada I went with the Canadian Tire brand (Eliminator) - The dealer was over $100 more. Still for the future would be good to know if a Car Jumper (battery) or using a second car as a tender would work.

Using a tender won't really work, at least not better than just doing a 10 minute swap. The primary cable does not power all the circuits, there's a 60A accessory cable you have to unplug from the battery fuse box that services most of the electronics.

I'd think with some wire and clamps/alligator clips you could jump it with the existing battery. Just make sure they're in parallel.

I must've caught them on a bad day; but there was a lot of "this is our corporate policy" verbiage they kept throwing out so after 20 minutes of nonsense I gave up. If anything I thought the battery swap would be even easier given the access and layout in the trunk.

At that point I already paid for the battery online for in-store pick-up; so I figured it was either I tried to swap it myself with tools I thankfully had with me... or give it a lift in the passenger seat to the nearest garage.

Just FYI for anyone planning to do the job themselves. Its an easy swap (10 min), and I can attest to that only the trip (A & B) and the reverting back to Celsius from Fahrenheit (come to the dark side) was the only loss data.
