  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've written on this forum in the past few months about how I stupidly walked into a bad deal. The tldr summary is: I bought a car with a bunch of underlying issues from a scummy Genesis dealership in Queens, Ny. It took months of run arounds and going to 2 more Genesis dealerships and corporate being overall useless , and the original dealership only finally took care of the mechanical issues once I hunted down the general managers email and threatened legal action.

A main concern was that there was some bad work done on the front bumper that I didn't notice for some dumb reason (that's on me) but I came to terms with having to pay for it to be repainted. But when it came time to take the bumper off, I found out that the bad work was worse than I thought and they had glued the corner of the bumper where the tabs meet the fender. Which makes the bumper garbage as multiple body shops I've asked for advice said you can't repair the tabs if they're completely gone and I'd have to replace the bumper cover. It seemed like such a waste as besides that, the bumper was in decent condition. I even tried to replace the tabs myself by buying the corner of an unsalvageable bumper and doing a transplant, but after many attempts I just can't get it quite right. I looked into any other solutions and only saw those ricer looking "quik-latches", if they made them flush and more discreet they'd be viable but they just don't look good.

The original dealership wouldn't even acknowledge my original concern so I won't bother trying to see if they would help. In a last ditch effort I've reached out to corporate again to see if maybe in good faith they'd replace the cover as they really shit the bed with any kind of assistance when the original dealership was pulling their nonsense. Or even just selling me one at a discount without shipping charge. I've also sent a price requests to the one Genesis dealership that gave me honest advice and answers when going through diagnosis issues while I was in the middle of the run around fiasco.

It will probably end with me buying a bumper cover at some horrendous markup, but I was hoping maybe someone here has an idea I'm overlooking. I just want this turd polished for the summer, I haven't been able to truly enjoy the car as the bumper is a constant reminder of the 5 month nightmare.
