  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm spending a few weeks in Korea and Tokyo with my family (my son was adopted from Korea 16 years ago), and it's been fun to be surrounded by so many Hyundais. For the first few days, I didn't see many Genesis' -- and even fewer Equus' -- but that changed dramatically today.

We drove through a more residential neighborhood (and an upscale one, at that), and suddenly Genesis and Equus were EVERYWHERE! 95% are black and all windows are tinted to the max. I know I'm biased, but the exterior of the Genesis looks classier to me than the Equus. Lotsa guys in suits and ties in the back seats, talking on cell phones, while guys in plain shirts are driving, so I'd venture to guess that a lot of Equus and Genesis owners are enjoying their cars from the back seat rather than from behind the wheel.

I'm going to do everything I can to get a ride in an Equus before I leave...I'll keep you posted.

While Sonatas are by far the most ubiquitous model (both privately and for taxis), there are a lot of Azera's, too (labeled Grandeur here). All Hyundais appear to carry an alpha-numeric code on the trunk (BH = Genesis, JS = Equus, Q = Grandeur & N = Sonata). Not very many SUVs and most appear to be Kias.

Looking forward to getting behind the wheel of my car in a couple of weeks, although it's nice to give the odemeter a break (I just passed 18K miles). Sure hope it starts right up!

Thanks for the update. Would love to know how the Genesis, Korean version, feels in terms of power and handling. ENjoy the rest of your stay.
