If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had to wait several hours to calm down before writing this... rant...

I purchased my Genesis yesterday. Today, I went to the closest Hyundai store which happens to be Rick Case Hyundai and went to the parts counter to purchase an iPod cable. They had a display featuring the cable with an MSRP of $29.95. I was told by the parts guy to go to the cashier to pay and was told it was $37 and change. I asked the cashier, she said that's what the parts guy wrote down. I asked the parts guy and he said the $29.95 on the display was Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price but they could charge whatever they wanted for the cable. By the way, had they not had the display with the price, I would have paid their price as I had no idea what the cable cost and I needed it. I'll just go to another dealer now, and probably will service my Genesis elsewhere...

Well, Rick and Rita, after buying 4 Hondas and 1 Hyundai in the last 7 years, you are not getting my 5 bucks. As a matter of fact, one of the reasons I ended up elsewhere, is the $700 window tint they are applying to all their Genesis. "we can take it off if you don't like it." Yeah, right!

Don't these dealers realize the public has a choice? Word of mouth is what can make or break some business in Today's economy. My word of mouth on Rick Case (Hyundai only) Today is: "Buyer Beware". In years past, I have referred many people to the Honda store next door, I have no reason to tell those interested in a Honda not to go to Rick's store, I have always been treated right.

But when it comes to Hyundai, Rick Case is on my avoid list. The salespeople are real nice, don't get me wrong, but whoever thought of their we will force you to buy tint and give me 5 bucks more for the iPod cable "policy", has cost Rick and Rita some future sales.

I'm with you. It's the principle of the thing here that really bothers a person. He's got a right to charge it, and you have a right to tell others and to go elsewhere.

What I did in the final negotiations on my Genesis was tell the salesman, "Oh and I'd like you to throw in an Ipod cable." He said he had to twist the sales manager's arm, but I got it.

I have been to Rick Case several times. Actually test drove two Genesis'. When they finally got one in with the tech package the salesman called me. He quoted me Hyundais official two year lease price over the phone. After the drive I said "let's do it". The money guy acknowledged that there was such a lease but said that they did not make enough money on it and wanted an additional $700.00 up front and nearly $100.00 more per month. The salesman claimed he didn't know the dealer's policy because it was the first one he almost leased. It would be interesting to know what he is telling potential customers now.
I went to Coconut Creek where they had three with the tech package. They would not acknowledge that such a lease existed. I purchased it for list price from Coconut Creek.

Well I guess this is called "Capitalism at it's Finest".

Dealers need a refresher course in the theory of supply and demand though. If there are 4+ dealers within driving distance, is it really worth losing a potentially loyal customer by charging a premium (list plus) for a product you can shop around for?
BTW, how much did they charge you for "dealer prep" admin fee?

Napleton Hyundai sold me the cable for $29.95.

Genesis shoppers take note: negotiate for the iPod cable before you agree to a deal.

Not sure if you are asking me the question about dealer prep and admin fee or not. At Coconut Creek they said that some fee of nearly $600 must be added. When I objected he said he could take $600 off of list price but the $600 fee had to be there. So what I paid was list price minus $600 plus the $600 fee (go figure). Of course I had to pay sales tax plus tag and title.

I used to go to Rick Case as well but they are VERY rude.. I drove all the way up to Napletons to get my Genesis and they were great! It was worth the drive.

My ipod cable was free with the car. Go figure.

I've been lucky... my last three new cars have been purchased through a non-negotiated price plan (X-Plan, Vendor Pricing and Hyundai Circle).

I know they're there to make a living, but I think of all of them as snakes in the grass, and if I can find a way to avoid even dealing with them, so be it.

FWIW, the iPod adapter cable is $35 MSRP and is what my dealer was charging. Go to Build & Price any car on hyundaiusa.com and under accessories the iPod Cable is listed there for $35.:grouphug:

Sounds like a place to avoid. When I bought my R Spec, they had about 4 grand worth of add ons. tint, protective coating, badges, etc. I explained to my sales man that I knew they put them on there to make some money and I understood that. However I did not want them and wasn't going to pay for them. They could take them off if they wanted to. Salesman said no problem and drew a line right thru the extra cost. We started negoating from there on the price of the car. ;)

Bought an Excel SE sedan back in 1992 from Rick Case and a Sonata in 1993. Idiots then too!

Cross shopped Rick Case when I bought mine, had a cars.com ad in hand. They could not meet the price. Went to Potamkin in Miami Lakes and they beat the deal. Rick Case wanted more for a used identical Genesis, then I paid new. I would not shop them again.
