  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2009 Azera Limited. Love the car except for a "nervous" ride and road nose on some payments that have textured surfaces and/or frost heaves. The former create a surprising amount of road noise, the latter sometimes tend to snap your head back excessively.

Has anyone any experience comparing the ride of the Genesis sedan to the Azera Limited? I seem to read a lot of contradictory reviews re the Genesis as to luxury quality ride.

Thanks

Hi there. Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up.. Regarding road noise - the Genesis will be much quieter.. The ride might be a bit stiffer but more controlled and less "nervous". However, some people have felt this "nervous" feeling you describe while in the back seat - over some surfaces. This is being corrected on the latest models. I'm not sure if they're in showrooms yet...

I just got my Genesis and I notice the road noise tends to increase over certain road surfaces. I generally chalk this up to the tires, as certain tires are prone to make more noise on rougher road surfaces. I haven't felt that "nervous" feeling yet, though I've only had the car for a day so far.

I actually traded in a 2006 Azera Limited on My 4.6 Genesis back in November. In my case as far as suspension goes I liked my Azera better. I never had any suspension issues with my Azera. Yes it did have more body roll when flying around a corner than my Genesis but it had a much smoother ride.

The suspension likes and dislikes with the Genesis are about as different as people. Many like it as is........some would like a bit of an improvement (my catagory) and some absolutely hate it!

I in fact was a little hard on one member (Doug). From his report his Genesis suspension went completly wild at times and was completly unbearable. In fact he got rid of his Genesis. I guess I got upset seeing the same story over and over not only on this forum but others as well.

I was just concerned that to many posts of that nature might falsely convince people that every Genesis does exactly the same thing. Mine is no where near what he experianced and many others aren't either.

I just hated for people to click on the suspension topic and then see so many negetive commments. I didn't do a very good job of explaining what I was trying to say.

The only thing I wanted people to remember is that if you have a person who had a worse case suspension problem and posted it in one form or another 100 times is one thing.

What would scare me far worse is 100 people reporting a disaster suspension problem just one time each!

As for Doug...........I do feel sorry for him because of the money he lost getting rid of his Genesis. I wished he could have rode it out because you loose a ton of money so soon after the purchase!

Also in looking at things in his eyes I would be a very unhappy camper as well and I suppose I might be tempted to put up as many posts as I could about a bad suspension problem. He does have the right to his opinion and as I said I was a bit hard on him! I just didn't want the repetition of his posts to confuse people into thinking that this was normal for every Genesis.

Now yes I am now repeating myself but I do feel like the suspension needs to be improved meaning I want a smoother ride. There are many people who have said they like it as is and they like to "feel the road". I get confused because I wonder then if these people like earthquakes, lots of turbulance when flying, and the old baffleless water beds to.

For my money I want a smooth ride even if I can't go flying around sharp corners quite as fast because as I see it I'm going straight down the road 99.9% of the time. I have mentioned owning several other Hyundai's because they have been trouble free for me. So I just think the Genesis should have had a more comfortable and smoother ride than Hyundai Sonata's, Elantra's, and Santa Fe's. In my case all those previous Hyundai's had smoother rides.
I just thought the Genesis should be better in this catagory as well since it's the luxury car of the group with the much higher price.

Despite this I in no way consider the Genesis as some kind of failure. It is in fact one awesome car! My two personal favorites are the Lexicon Sound System and the 375 HP V-8 power and still capable of 24 mpg mixed driving and 27 mpg all highway driving. Nice!

Ditto to what Duaine said.

I also traded a 2006 Azera for my V-8 Genesis. My complaints for the Azera were body lean, nose bobbing rather wildly over pavement irregularities, and, worst of all, road noise. The Azera was great as far as reliability and general passenger comfort.

I find that the Genesis handles pavement that totally confounded the Azera. The worst offender is a curving transition onto an overpass with a mismatch in pavement heights. The Azera would bob wildly and I never could relax. I have driven that stretch several times in the Genesis and it handles it with aplomb.

There is another stretch of pavement repairs that the Azera did not handle well that the Genesis handles nicely.

The lowered road noise in the Genesis is a pleasure. I can tell that the body is more rigid and there is plenty of noise dampening material.

Thank you very much for the comparison!

Hey everyone - Hyundai recently sent me the chrome Genesis license plate, but, I obviouysly have no use for it. Rather than throw it away I'd rather give it to someone who would enjoy it. If anyone is in the Chicago area and can meet me at a convenient location (I'm in Downers Grove) - I'm happy to pass it on. Just private email me.

Does everyone get the Chrome License plate?
