  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my Genesis since January 1, and finally got the opportunity to take it on an extended road trip. It now has just a shade over 9,000 miles on it. I thought I would post a short synopsis of my observations from 6 days of extended driving on different types of roads.

Particulars on the car:

2009 Genesis sedan
Base model V-6
Champagne exterior, tan interior

Particulars on the trip:

Day 1: San Jose, CA to Reno, NV (I-80)
Day 2: Reno, NV to Klamath Falls, OR (US-395, CA-139, OR-39, US-97)
Day 3: Crater Lake, OR to Bend, OR (OR-62, OR-138, US-97)
Day 4: Bend, OR to Sunriver, OR (OK, that's only 15 miles ... )
Day 5: Sunriver, OR to Reno, NV (US-97, OR-39, CA-139, US-395)
Day 6: Reno, NV to San Jose, CA (I-80)

The car handled beautifully, and really shone on the backroads and two-lane highways. It LOVED cornering in the mountains at speed, and gave enough feedback to make it drive well while providing a VERY comfortable ride. Most of the time was spent around 80 mph, and the ride was perfect, while road noise was a minimum.

On the two-lane highways, the Genesis would easily accelerate smoothly to 100 mph to pass, with no hesitation ... just a nice, clean application of power. Again, even at 100 mph, the handling was silky smooth -- better than the Mercedes E-class it replaced.

We got around 28 mpg for the trip. The XM Radio was fabulous, and we had perfect reception throughout the entire trip, except for one cutout underneath an overpass in Klamath Falls. The climate control system was also fabulous, keeping us totally comfortable, even though the temperature was 90-100 degrees F outside for virtually the entire trip.

I literally couldn't be happier with the performance of the Genesis on this trip ... hopefully the first of many!

Glad to hear you're happy w/ your Genesis and that it's treating you well. It really is great for long-distance driving. I've only taken mine on 1 road trip in the year I've had it, but was thoroughly impressed w/ the refinement and fuel-efficiency on the highway. It's so quiet and smooth.

On a side note, you stopped through Reno twice and didn't even say "hey"?!? Come on man, us Genesis owners gotta stick together! j/k ;)

ZERO suspension problems, even over potholes. Once on I-80 we shimmied, but EVERY car on the road was bouncing ... major construction zone.

To JWaters -- I was too busy the first time in Reno playing golf, and last night I was caught up in collecting money from the Peppermill! :-D

It sounds like your road trip was a success on several levels! Nice weather, a round of golf, casino winnings, all while seeing some beautiful scenery from behind the wheel of your new Genesis.

I can't wait to take my road trip to Denver later this summer.
