I though I would post my first experience with Roadside Assistance:
Woke up and Genny would not start on a warm July morning. Car had not been driven for over a week. My wide said the trunk was open, she got a message about invalid key and everything went dead.
9:12 Called Roadside. All automated voice until the end. The automation was pretty good understanding everything I said. It pulled my information from my home phone. At the end I got a real human who said I would receive a confirmation call.
9:48 Received a automated call the help would arrive in 15 minutes. I think it said press a button if help was already here; it was not.
10:15 Received automated message, "did roadside arrive?". I pressed 1 for no. I was then asked to I want to speak to the central dispatcher (or something like that) or to the company providing the assistance. I figured why not speak to the company directly which I did. They quickly found my info based on city, put me on hold to check status, and told me the driver got delayed on the last job and would arrive in 10 minutes. She was very nice.
10:40 The roadside assistance shows up in a battered Elantra with a portable battery pack. I guess they assumed the car would start and it was only a dead battery. If I needed a tow, I guess I would have to wait.
Anyway, the car started right up. I probably should get a portable battery myself
10:55 Hyundai automated call. Is everything OK. Yes. Do I want to take a survey, NO. (Hyundai can read this post - I gotto go)
Keep in mind I live in NYC (Queens). Everything is more difficult than anywhere else. So, the fact that it took longer than anticipated, should be expected. If you've every lived here, you'll know what I mean.
