  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey folks, got my 4.6 last week - thanks all for all the great insights on this babe of a car! My Genesis dealership missed one thing on delivery and that was the Wings on the steering wheel. In the meantime I had the windows tinted, Venturefilm or 3m film put on the front ~ anyway, have the roof spoiler now and when I went to get the Wings put on the steering wheel practically th whole staff and a manager came out to see the roof spoiler -some where taking pictures (and these where the guys who work there). tried uploading but apparently the file size is too big - will try again soon when I figure out how to make the pics smaller.

This is where I ordered the roof spoiler - had the dealership direct me to their collision place to paint and affix:

Total was about $330 order and install.

Almost at 600 miles (run in period) - have driven a corvette engine in a Cadillac STS, let loose the Genesis on a barren road last night, omg - this engine stands up!!! WOW!!

That picture doesn't show much. Got of picture of yours? Went with the roof spoiler too. Welcome

A Taiwan firm custom made my roof spoiler and is now selling it on Ebay and has pictures on their website.

Click Hyundai
Click Genesis 4 door.

They sell it on Ebay for $119.00 plus $20.00 for shipping (maybe more to ship to US)

Installation was a snap!

Tell them that Daniel Toye sent you and they may give you a better price.

The roof spoiler is not as flashy as the trunk spoiler but gives it a sutle touch of sportiness.

I'm currently looking into this - did you get the full front wrap or standard leading edge install? I have respective quotes of $1150 and $645 for 3M or Venture wrap. If you got the leading edge, how does the edge of the film on the hood look? What kind of warranty did you receive? Did you get a description of the difference between 3M and Venture?

I'm going to visit my local installer this afternoon and look at some of his jobs and observe an install in progress. If I decide to go ahead I'd like to get it done before the road damage starts to accumulate.

I have a 5 year warranty and was not offered 3M. I used these guys on my previous car and house (live in Florida so had the bullet proof tinting to protect against hurricanes) window tinting and trust their judgement. The guard goes halfway up the hood and if you are looking at the hood you can see the line of where it ends however if you are not looking at that point of the hood you really can not tell that it is there. I paid $760 for getting the car tinted and the Venture guard (I think the guard was $500 by itself).

Thanks for the info. I just visited my local installer - he carries 3M and Venture (also made by 3M). He says he doesn't install much 3M - the cost of the Venture to him is the same and he says it's easier to work with and has a much smoother texture (the 3M has a bit of orange-peel texture). He applied a piece to my hood so I could see how the edge would look. I think on a light colored car (white, silver) it would not be very noticable, but on my black car it appeared quite obvious. I decided to go ahead with the treatment, but I'm getting the full front wrap (everything ahead of the front doors), with all edges wrapped around the body panels.

I didn't know they did a full wrap like that.
One thing I hated about the clear bra was that the edge starts to collect dirt and dust and overtime shows the dirty black edge.
What was the quote on this job using Venture Shield, if you don't mind me asking?

You can use a toothpick and q-tip and some goo gone to remove that crust when it gets annoying.

Here's the quote from my local dealer in Columbia, MD:
******************************************
We have two basic options for coverage 1.) Standard Leading Edge Application which includes partial hood and fenders, entire front bumper wheel-well to wheel-well, mirror backs and lamps AND 2.) Full Front Clip Wrap which is same as above but with entire hood and fenders instead of partial, in other words everything forward of the front doors completely wrapped.

I can do the Standard Leading Edge Application for $645 and the Full Front Clip Wrap for $1,150.
******************************************
It's pricey, but we (Genesis owners) seem to be pretty fanatical  about this car, so what the hey? While I was visiting, the dealer was working on a full wrap (all body panels) on a brand new Porsche GT3-RS (he works mostly on high end and race cars, but does a fair amount of "retail" work as well). I didn't ask, but I would guess the full body treatment runs a little higher.

Holy..
$1150? I know the normal front wrap runs around $500, and was expecting around $700~800 for the full front wrap.
I guess there's a lot more work involved with the full wrapping.

Some jacka$$ backed into my front bumper leaving some clearcoat scratch and a small paint chip.
Maybe I should invest in this film pretty soon.

It takes about two days to do the full front wrap, and a lot of film. They need a piece 60" wide to do the hood, and apparently film that wide is expensive. And maybe the dealer has his eye on a new bass boat or something...

Also, it's very exacting work. It takes a lot of skill and technique to get a flawless job. I have experience with solar film, and this is similar but in 3-D.

Mine goes into the shop this afternoon - will get it back Tues. While they're at it they're going to clay bar/detail/polish the whole car (Menzerna polishing compound & Zaino Show Car Polymer sealant). Should look pretty shiny - I'll post some pics.
