  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lazy and don't pay attention to details.

Set up and appointment to take the Genesis in for a rattle in the drivers side door (the mirror and window control module). Just so i wouldn't be blown off by the tech saying he couldn't recreate the problem, i set up the radio where the problem happened all the time (bass 2 away from all the way up and volume set to 15).

I wait for about a hour and the tech claims he cant hear the problem. I had to go show him what i was talking about. Turns out the service writer put down "speaker rattling at high volume".. That is not what i told him the problem was and i didn't think 15 on a stereo that goes up to 60 was high.. One of the selling points of the car is its "17 speaker Lexicon sound system" i don't think its supposed to rattle and buzz at 25% of volume..

I head back to the waiting room. 45 minutes later the tech comes out and tries to tell me that the noise is normal for where the stereo setting are. I tell him "no its not". I say lets get a sales guy and go look at another Genesis. We actually looked at a 2013, 2014 and a seriously abused 2011. none rattled like mine. The tech goes help and gets the tech that was in charge for the day. All the service writers are looking at me like im the winner of the "a-hole of the day award".. I tell the head guy that i don't want to keep bringing the car back for the same issue. He listens to the problem and says he will get a dif guy on it but its gonna take a while, because this other guy is pretty busy. 50 min later they call me back in the shop and the guy has my door apart and is showing the first tech what the problem is. He adds some felt tape to the part then snaps and screws it back in and the problem was gone.

I was in that dealership for close to 3 hours for what the tech said should have taken 20 minutes tops. The service writer wrote down the wrong info, the first tech was clueless and i had to darn near act an ass to get the head tech to look at my car and get it to a tech that had a clue.

Round Rock Hyundai gets a big thumbs down from me..

At least they eventually fixed it. Most Hyundai dealers probably would have completely blown you off.

I can't fault their initial preparation of my 2015. The car was pristine and on time. I haven't found any problems so far.

They tried to blow me off but i wouldnt let them. I worked for Acura for close to 5 yrs and have a clue whats going on :)

Thats cool. From the looks of things, this dealership is on the right track. The service dept just needs to catch up.

FWIW.. Chris, my former Acura service writer was not there. She took great care of me back at Acura. If you ever need service aske for her. She'll keep you squared away.

I know I am resurrecting an old thread, but I had to comment how this is a small world. I read this thread and it sounded like someone I know who works there so I asked, and I know the tech that fixed your car. The reason he knew what and where the rattle was, is because he fixed the same thing on his wife's car 2 days prior. If you still service there at the same dealership, he is still there and said to ask for him.

I don't remember the techs name but i remember his face. Ive only had 1 problem since then.

Which Acura dealership did you work at? David McDavid or Sterling? I bought my first and only Acura from Sterling back in 2004.

I worked at both. Worked at McDavid from 2001-2003 then Sterling from 2003 -2006. I was the internet and accessory manager at both. McDavid got bought so the majority of us went to Sterling.

Ah then you were there when I bought my first and likely last Acura, my 2004 TL. I traded in an 03 Altima V6 on it. I forgot my salesperson's name, but he was AA guy who also happened to be the owner's son (I want to call him Steve, but that has a low probability for being correct). Cool dude. I have no complaints about Sterling Acura other than not once during my 6 years of TL ownership, with an extended service plan mind you, did I ever get an Acura loaner when I had service done.

My reason for being done with Acuras was largely because of how much my TLs interior squeaked from day 1. Drove me nuts.

My experience with Round Rock Hyundai has been positive. We bought a 2011 Sonata there, and had all the service done there. It was always done well & on schedule. The one exception to that was when I dropped in to have nitrogen put in the tires. Should have taken just a few minutes. They were busy & I fell through the cracks. After about 45 minutes, I went and asked what was taking so long? They were honest, admitted the error, filled the tires right away, and gave me a free oil change as a good will gesture.

It's been awhile since we sold that Sonata, so hadn't been around in awhile. But our recent search for a Genesis had us looking there. While they were unable to find one we wanted, they offered to do a free inspection on one were were looking at from another dealership. That other car "looked" attractive, but we had some reservations. We wound up buying one in Dallas. Have no reservations about going to RR Hyundai for service.
