  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody try (these)? I have a short spouse and these look pretty slick.

(Didn't see them in a search...)

Nada, hate the look of running boards on an SUV. They belong on pick up trucks, if anywhere. I had auto retractable boards on my F150 Limited, and those were great because of the height of the truck, but really loved that they retracted out of the way when door closed. Much cleaner lines.

Once tried a Toyota Highlander with running boards and it actually made it harder to get in and out because it wasn't practical to step on them and so you had to try to step over them and it was brutal. Final note....that neon lighting is screaming "PLEASE LOOK AT ME!!!"

Hahaha all good points, in context. Especially stepping *over* wrong-sized boards now inconveniently in the way. Lol.

The lights only come on when they extend, and they are powered, so almost invisible until you pop the door (or hit unlock... not sure).

They aren't cheap so... I'm debating.

I was interested in those when I was shopping for the GV80 since the height is higher. However, it didn't make as much sense for the GV70 since it's already pretty low. Those automatic running boards will probably hit the curb in the city

Found them in another thread for GV80. Those were called Wing Steps. Now I'm not sure if Autotech Trends is a white label distributor or the original manufacturer.

are you looking for these to install on a gv70 or gv80? this is a gv70 sub form. I think the gv70 is already pretty low already and having running boards installed can become an issue especially if you live in the city. I've had instances where I had to be very careful opening the door as it was potentially going to hit the curb. Also one thing to note is for the GV70, the entire door swings open even the bottom section. On other SUVs, there is usually a section that does not open when the door is open

So, first - those were *amazing* comparison graphics I don't know how you did that!👌

Second - good point... never noticed that about the door piece.

And as of this afternoon, the shorter of us has decided, "Maybe it isn't so bad, I'm getting used to it now." 😑😄

And ya, GV70 ICE. I have been watching where we stop and you're right, I now think there are a lot of curbs which could obstruct it before it could be useful. I don't think this mod is gonna make the short list.
👍

When I was shopping for mine I came across a few that had the OE step rails. For me, they were in the way, especially getting out + I didn't really care for the 'look'. Had them on my Titan Crew Cab & they came in handy but the GV70 just isn't that high.

Another thing to consider is these get really dirty in a heartbeat and if you rub against them getting out with long pants or a skirt/dress, you will have nasty black crud on the calf area of your clothing (but a nice clean step rail)!
