  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys,

For those who have visited the dealership to catch a glimpse of the Equus and if you had a light conversation with a sales rep...were you not impressed by the level of knowledge they had about the Eq? or was it just me or just the sales rep..?

I headed to OpenRoad Hyundai in Richmond, BC.

By the way, loved the Eq in person, gorgeous and definitely eye candy for me.. =)

The ones I have talked to at Rick Case in ATL are fairly knowlegable.

Many salespersons don't know much about what they sell in any business, and the auto business is no different. Obviously, it varies a lot between one salesperson and another. For the Equus, since they probably only sell a small number of those, it may not be worth their time to become experts in it.

Sales people are only as good as their training and managemnet. Good managers/owners train their people well and expect them to know all the products. I have done business with furniture, heavy equipment, car, heavy truck, lab equipment and chemical companies. The best companies always have great training programs for their people.

Equus dealers are supposed to have an "Equus specialist" to deal with prospective buyers. Regular Hyundai salespeople arent trained on the product. Perhaps the specialist wasnt working that day? This is also a reason for the demos that 'come to you'... To ensure you arent dealing with a Sonata salesperson.
Regardless, if youre really intersted youll meet an expert soon enough.

Abbotsford, British Columbia sale person for the Equus is really knowledgeable and customer friendly. He took me for a very informative tour of the car and then we sat in his office and he told me everting about that car. Really impressive...

I suppose I should have gone the extra step to ask for a Equus specialized rep. As I just looked for anyone available to help as they sectioned off the Equus with rope.

I was already impressed with the vehicle prior to heading to dealership (from the web, youtube, etc). Being in front of an Equus really cemented those thoughts. Except I haven't test drove one yet !

next time I'll make an appointment..!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone..

Abbotsford has an Equus dealer? WOW... the population of Abbotsford, BC is very small.

I don't own an Equus, but I have been considering it. I do have to admit that my expectations weren't as high as if I walked in to a BMW or Mercedes dealership, but the experience I had with my local Hyundai dealer was excellent. He was very knowledgeable. Ironically, he was not their specialized Equus rep because he was busy at the time. Maybe I just got lucky but this individual clearly knew as much as I did about the vehicle and didn't offer any silly comparisons or analogies that I so many times hear of from salesman. He was just what I was looking for, polite, not pushy, and willing to listen to my questions around the vehicle :welcome:. It actually made me feel a little guilty leaving and not buying one from him because it was an enjoyable atypical car dealership experience for me.

Echoing what Backtohyundai said...there was someone at the dealership that specialized with the Equus. He worked in tandem with the salesman that we bought our other 2 cars from previously.

I think that's part of the deal if a dealership is one that can sell the Equus.
