  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How do you connect your phone? I connected a headphone cable but dont get any sound. Is there a similar ipod cable for an Android phone?

Whats the current 'best' solution for bluetooth streaming on the '12 Tech package that inscrutably doesnt support?

If I wish to connect the sound output (ie, headphone) of my Samsung droid, I use a standard stereo cable from that to the AUX input in the console. Once connected, just select the AUX input and the car will route the sound (assuming you have the sound level of the phone set properly) and play it thru the head unit. If you are not getting sound, there are several solutions:

1) make sure you have the sound output of the phone loud enough.
2) make sure the cable you have is properly inserted and is of the correct type. Using the USB connection with a USB cable will NOT connect sound output from phone to car.
3) Select AUX
4) turn up the volume on the car's stereo.

that's about all there is to it.

I use my Samsung Galaxy S III to listen to streaming audio from ABC Darwin (FM 105.7) via the "Tune In" app. Works great. Also worked well on my Samsung Transform.

The headphone out plays music but how can you connect a smartphone and be able to control the device - like Pandora?

How can you be able to skip from the steering wheel controls?

No, the car-phone symbiosis isn't that complex. You cannot control the phone from the car ('steering wheel controls') nor control the car from the phone. You have to do it all on the phone's touchscreen. As the output is only audio, and the BlueTooth connection is only for phone (contacts, make/end calls, and so forth). I use TuneIn app and it has a "mobile" or car mode, which basically takes the controls and maked them huge buttons. I don't think Pandora has such a mode.

I bought my Genesis 3.8 w/ Tech package in Dec 11. The Bluetooth worked fine with my old phone but not with my new Samsung S II. It will pair and download conacts, etc, but after a while it displays "Bluetooth Connection disconnected" (or roughly that) and the phone link won't work after that. I have paired and deleted it a number of times.

Hyundai dealer says phone is not supported - "they can't test every phone" and the phone companies obviously can't test every car - but that leaves me with an expensive new car/audio system, the latest model phone (at the time) and no functionality between the two...not what I paid all that money for. An Android system phone should work regardless of the specific phone model - some of the Samsung phones are listed as compatable.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

There might be some way: Ensure the phone as the lastest OS. You might have to root it, but that's not a problem if you are savvy or have a techie friend. Try starting here:

etc etc etc

I had, until earlier this month, a Samsung Transform....and it really acted wonky when I tried to pair it with the car via Bluetooth. It would work, then not work, then work, etc....so the problem ceased when I upgraded to the Galaxy S IIIl. Sweet phone.

Hooked up my Galaxy S3 yesterday. Pairing was easy. Took 2 tries to sync the contacts book, but was successful. Had to use an audio cable for music. No sound at first, then turned the volume up on the phone and it was fine. Really HATE that I can't control the music from steering wheel.

Are there any cars out there that offer integrated control of an Andriod-based phone? The examples I know of only control iOS devices.

After following the steps below I found that the sound is playing thru the front speakers only. Checked my speaker settings and they are all balanced. Any suggestions? I have attached link of the current cable I am using.

Yea I paired my S III back in early July, haven't had a problem since. Got my wife a S III last Friday, paired it as well, and also paired her daughters S III we got on Friday for good measure.

Try a different cable. The problem, as I can see it, is not with the cable, unless the sound is MONO and MONO only comes out the front speakers. Get a different, better cable. Best Buy or Shack.
