  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Genesis owners,

Just bought a 2015 Genesis 5.0 (Sarah) with the wifey a few days ago! Super stoked, can't believe this is actually a Hyundai! I'm a Mopar or no car guy, but this car...it really struck a cord in me. After our Hellcat Charger deal fell through (had it at MSRP, dealer sold it for markup to an idiot). Since it wasn't in writing or anything, I apparently lost out. This is the same dealer I bought my Chrysler 300S from, talk about customer loyalty. Pissed off, I drove around with the wife to the surrounding dealerships. We checked out BMW's, Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac...honestly they all look the same, no offense to anyone that own these vehicles. We ended up in a Hyundai dealership after seeing a 3.8 Genesis coupe on a revolving display and thought it looked cool and different (must have been a used modded one). We got out the car, a salesman rushed over like a wolf to sheep and asked us if we wanted to test drive the 3.8.

Here is where it starts. We looked around the dealership before taking him up on his offer. Out of the corner of our eyes, we saw 4 mufflers, black, 4 door sedan. I asked what it was, the salesman said, "it's a genesis sedan." We walked over, looked at it, one word - Clean! However, it was a demo with 8,000+ on the ODO. I asked if we could test drive it, the salesman agreed. Hopped in the driver seat, wife in the passenger and salesman in the back. He proceeded to tell me about all of the electronics, impressive, but my main question was, "I believe this car has been broken in?" He said, "yes, go ahead and punch it." So I did...wow is all I could say. 0 - 60 sprint to freeway speeds, slight powerslide around a U-turn...at this point I'm sold. The wifey was hanging on for dear life, salesman was just giggling in the back. I can't believe a 4 door luxury sedan from Hyundai can do this! I can do without the Hellcat.

We didn't buy the black Genesis, obviously haha, but bought a Perisan Gray instead. Dealer had a few left over. Love the color and electronics, sold on the power. Long story short, this car definitely filled the void supposedly saved for the Hellcat.

Sorry for the long rant, just want to express the love we have for this car. I went through just about every thread on this forum in a few days (I have a life but you guys are too interesting). Will post pictures in the morning :)

Until next time...

Awesome story! :welcome: and enjoy Sarah! Mine is called "Sophie", but my 3 year old daughter keep calling her "Sophia" so I've allowed it :-D

Congratulations!

It sounds like we've gone through much the same process. I went to check out the coupe earlier this week. It was OK, but a bit cramped for my large frame. Saw a '16 sedan and decided to take a look which turned into a drive. Went to another dealer yesterday with the wife because they had several leftover '15 5.0s. Drove off with a black/tan. Love it. I haven't named it, but the wife probably will.

Yep a keeper for sure. Maybe the last of the 5.0 as I know there are no 2016 5.0 and it looks like the G80 will get the turboed 3.3 in replacement of the 5.0 or normally aspirated 3.8. Although nice, not in the same league as the 5.0.

welcome to he forums.. this car is a beast... Best front end on the market IMO...

false. fastest color in independent tests was white.

I was like you. I was all set to purchase a Charger R/T Scat Pack but drove a 5.0 and the combo of luxury and power won me over!
