  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I searched these forums for anyone else complaining about their SiriusXM radio satellite reception but didn't find anything. My 2015 Genesis Ultimate has the worse satellite radio reception of any vehicle I've owned since using Sirius or XM radios in the past 8+ years. My two previous Chrysler 300s hardly ever lost satellite reception, usually only under tree covered areas, and none of my other previous vehicles were as bad as the Genesis. My Genesis loses satellite reception and/or indicates a "weak signal" in the dash LCD display in those same areas plus in some wide open areas.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem or if this is "normal" for the Genesis.

I remember somebody on here a while ago having problems with that the antenna wasn't firmly bolted down to the roof, and water got in and corroded things, leading to problems similar to what you are experiencing. Couldn't hurt to check...

Mine is not the wurst I've experienced.

I checked the antenna and it doesn't wiggle or move, and seems to be as tight as it can get. Thanks for the suggestion.

My 2014 Kia Cadenza would lose service and on the same route in the Genesis, no service interruption. Something was wrong with the car...thankfully not having that issue with my Genesis.

I have had problems since I took delivery on my vehicle in Nov '14. On channels below about 250 (yes, I deliberately checked the full range of channels to find the break point) my radio will go silent for periods ranging from about 3 minutes up to about 10 minutes. When the audio finally returns the display will always show (in blue) one of the following messages on the "i" line:
1) weak signal
2) no signal
3) busy
and occasionally, "no signal" in red in the upper right hand side of the display.
And, when this occurs, "Featured Favorites Updated" will be displayed at the very top of the display.
And sometimes, the display will abandon the Sirius/XM screen completely and revert to the root home screen.

On channels from about 250 up, the audio will drop out for periods of half a second and it will do so continually. Just yesterday I made a recording to take to the dealer with me. During a 2 minute period it dropped out 6 times.

I took my car in to the dealer (Eckert Hyundai in Denton, TX) for service on this and two other items on Tuesday of last week. I got it back on Friday and was told that they could not find a problem and that everything was "working as designed". When I got into the car to leave, I checked channel 400 and it dropped out before I could even put the car into gear. I went back inside to challenge the service writer with this and he sent the so called "tech" out to the car to sit with me and listen. It dropped out twice within 30 seconds with him sitting there. All I got from the "tech" was, "it happens sometimes". When I blew up at the service manager all I got was, "we have to follow procedure". So, it's off to another dealer next week in my quest to solve the problem.

I'll keep the forum posted on whatever is found that finally fixes the problem.

Try one of the Huffines stores. One is in McKinney, the other is in Plano.

Don't know what problem is with my 2012 genisis. Keep getting check antenna error. But I have one schrech of hwy I travel every day to work where my xm radio works for about 3 miles.is this reception issue or what ? Dealer said 400 dollars. For antenna.

Old post but in chasing down an intermittent head unit issue, there was water inside the 'shark fin' housing - causing issues. I have a 2015 - generally reception is quite good, but in trying to nail the intermittent issue, the 'antenna' was inspected. It turns out circuit board in the housing would get wet/submerged and not function. I've not examined further, but purportedly it has a seal that I'm assuming in my case was leaking.

just stumbled on this post. i have a 2018 G80 and mine would intermittently drop signal. i would do a xm refresh, restart the head unit and still not have a signal. i purchased a XM antenna to mount on the trunk. i havent dropped signal in 3months other than going under a bridge and a dead spot by a train area that also takes me under a bridge. so i disagree that its the head unit, but likely an antenna issue. i also noticed that the sharkfin on the G80 with the panoramic roof doesnt really appear to be mounted to metal so i wonder if the antenna is not grounding for enough signal strength.
