  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got a quote for 508.75 dollars inspection at this interval. When looking at the recommended items on the M. Log, there are two R (filters) and the rest are I's.
I see an "Install BG MOA and CF5" does anyone know what this is???
Dealer wants to:
Transmission Fluid Exchange;
Colling System Flush;
Recalibrate TPMS;
etc
I feel I am being taken for a s%&*#$

Any feedback is welcomed.
Happy New Year to all.

You are being taken. Only have the dealer do exactly what is in the manual. I have taken mine in and they start this sales pitch about how they usually do blah blah and you want that don't you? I say no, just do these things that are in the maintence log/manual and I have it in my hand to show them. And I get a price right then and there. Don't fall for the sales pitch for more service than you need. My 30k service was about $120.00.

Section 7-9 of the owner's manual recommends inspecting the transmission fluid at 37,500 miles of normal use. There is no reason to change the fluid that often under normal use. My dealer told me to change the transmission fluid at 100,000 miles if I recall correctly. I normally wouldn't wait that long but I wouldn't change it before 50,000 miles at the very least.

Coolant, per the manual, should be changed at 60,000 miles the first time, then every 30,000 miles or 24 months after. I've never owned a car that recommended the first flush at a longer interval than other flushes. I am a little curious about that.

I agree with homeofstone. Your dealer is being ridiculous about the transmission fluid and the overall price seems high.

The reason for the 100,000 mile transmission fluid change interval is that the Genesis transmissions use synthetic fluid, which is vastly different than conventional transmission fluid. Don't ever try to put synthetic transmission oil in a transmission designed for conventional transmission fluid, and vis versa.

Yes. Forget about the inspections. Just change the oil/oil filter, air filter, and cabin filter according to the interval specified in the owner’s manual. There are a few other things to change when you accumulate more mileage.

If you encounter any issues or warning indicators, take it to your dealer and they will inspect the relevant parts for free.

Thanks to all. This has been very helpful.:)

you don't need any of that. Just look at the owners manual.
I think you need oil and filter change, air cabin filter change and engine air filter change. I've done all of this myself. I think it cost me 80 bucks in parts.

Recalibrate TPMS

Recal the TPMS? You are definitely being taken to the cleaners!!

If you did not mention any TPMS issues, they shouldn't have even mentioned it in a quote. You should only need a recalibration when any TPMS parts are replaced.

Recalibrate your wallet making it lighter and more streamlined for aerodynamic efficiency.

Automax Hyundai in Norman, OK said that I needed a $280 fuel system cleaning treatment at my 30,000 mile oil change, I took the bait and agreed to the service but felt like I had been dooped the entire day.

Yes, you have been dooped. If you feel you really need to clean your fuel system, buy a bottle of Chevron Techron at Walmart, etc, and follow the directions on the bottle.

I bought a 2011 4.6 Genesis in November. It now has 73,000 miles. Decided to research the recommended transmission service interval and found a lot of great information here. Thanks everybody. Took it to the dealer. They checked my fluid and said no change was necessary as it was still clear. Decided to get a second opinion so I took it to an independent transmission shop that I trust. They took it for a test drive and said the transmission shifted perfectly. They checked the oil and said it was clear and no change was needed. They told me to bring it back at 100,000 and they will check it again. They have experience with zf transmissions and stated that they run very clean. No charge for the check btw. I was happy to say the least. Love the car. I'm gonna try for 200.000 miles as I do with all of my cars. Thanks again for an excellent forum. Just registered tonight.
