  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Scraped the bronze trim on my side mirror damnnnnnn

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
From dealing with my mirror caps I hate to tell you this but dealerships will not swap small parts. They will only sell you the whole assembly.

Agreed with the others...likely an entire parts replacement.

If it were me, I’d just sand smooth and get some touch up paint (mix your own) to touch up. Or one of those paintless dent places may be able to airbrush it for you.

Unfortunately I think you're right. Even searching through the Genesis FSM, I'm not seeing anything related to the side mirrors other than the whole assembly. Looks like dealers most likely would just replace the entire thing if it comes down to it...

I have some damaged dark chrome trim pieces on my G70 as well. One of the side vents has several small scratches in it, and the dark chrome trim pieces under the headlight look like they were shot with a shotgun blast. Those damn Edmonton winters must be hell on cars, it only was used for one Edmonton winter before I bought it as a dealer demo, and it looks like 8 million rocks blasted the front of the car.

Geez, always thinking us dealers are out to rip people off. You can get it separate if it's part of 87616/87626 I'll have to go look at a G70 on the lot later and see.

Is there an easy way to remove part 87616/87626? I saw some carbon fiber caps for the G70.

If it's anything like the Sonata's, it's a big pain. And you have to be very careful not to break it if you plan on keeping it.

After looking at a car, and the cad drawings of that piece, I'm thinking the chrome is not separate. You're going to have to buy the mirror. Plus, the cap only has 1 part #. If it was part of that cap, it would have 2 part numbers. 1 for chrome, and 1 for dark chrome.

It looks a bit complicated to remove and not knowing how many fasteners it has just makes it worse...

You can go see my post on that. It's a pain in the ass. There is a work around that requires cutting into the plastic and CF caps. But even then still have to disassemble the entire thing.

Just read your post! The CF caps look awesome on your car. I wish I lived a bit closer to central NJ to take my car to the same shop. I live about two hours away in northern NJ.

Well if you're ever planning to get them done do try and schedule way early. Shop was quite busy I had almost 1 month of wait time.
