  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

I currently own a black 2012 Genesis and I've made the wrong move as to going to car washes that touch the car, and slowly developed scratches (they seem light but still very noticeable in the sun) and also swirls and some areas especially my rear badge where you can see it really bad far away. Also some deep scratches that I hope can be removed from when dealer put on my wing rear badge :(

1) My question is where could I go to pay someone to get everything completely removed and not just hidden temporarily? I live in Daytona Beach but I'm willing to travel if needed. Is there a good website where I could search for good auto detailing?

Yes I might sound crazy but this car isn't even 7 months old and already scratches everywhere especially the mirrors..
I rather not do it my self and let someone professional do it as I'm not experienced with buffers and such. I'm expecting it will be around $250-$300 and that's fine with me as long as it's removed.

2) Also another question: I've been using a touch free car wash lately which I would think is more safe since it's not touching the car technically, what's your opinion?

first black shows every imperfection and is why after owning one black car I have not owned another and thats been over 25 years. As for removing scratches etc I suggest going to a pro wash and detailing and have them hand wash, buff and wax your car. In future only hand wash and use a spray detailer(like nu finish Cling) after the car is dry. You could buy a buffer and polishing compound and do it youself if you know how to use a buffer not burning the finish. Black cars look great but its difficult to keep them looking good.

You're going to have some scratches and swirls on a black car, this is kinda of unavoidable. But you can take it to a handwash/wax/polish/etc shop and get it buffed out.

After this do a sealant(every 6) + wax(every 3). Personally I believe don't wash/wax more then necessary and keep it under a roof if possible. Black cars look the best but they are kind of a dirt/scratch/swirl magnet.

I already have some scratches/swirls brand new from the dealership and it's going to take professional work to get it out. However, it's impossible to avoid so I recommend doing it every so often and don't over do it because it's pretty much impossible to avoid scratching black paint when you buff/wax/wash it.
