  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, at random times my screen when starting my car will stay at the "Hyundai Genesis" splash screen and won't move but I can still hear the XM radio.

I've read that temperature could be the cause but I don't believe so since one time it did it at night then the next in morning time with some sun.

Now I restarted my car and still stays there. It seems to work again an hour later or so.

If I brought this in the dealer will they need to see it in person to fix it? I've taken a picture of it with the screen and me driving so that they can see it stayed on that screen and that I'm not going crazy.

It's starting to become a hassle after awhile.

Thanks for any help,
Dominic

2011, 3.8 Premium + Premium Nav.

We get this sporadically. Maybe 1 out several hundred starts. When it is "locked up" if you press the phone button, you get a banner at the top that says "Bluetooth Initializing". My working theory is that this issue is directly related to the wonky Bluetooth implementation that has many other well documented idiosyncrasies and bugs.

I have not taken it in to have it looked at, it is just too sporadic and cannot be replicated on demand.

As others have posted here, it seems possibly related to putting the car in gear immediately after starting, before the AV/Nav/Phone system has fully booted, but not always...

Generally, I can kill the car, open the door, close the door, and restart the car and it works fine. I saw the open the door trick in another thread and it seems to be the key to getting it to "reboot".

I hope that this thread can be limited to the discussion of this specific problem. Other threads exist for the other gremlins...

I'll try the open the door trick next time this happens, as a few hours later it still did the same thing until I restarted car about 3-4 more times but never opened the door. As for the gears, I don't even touch them until my phone is all set with my music.

This thread can be locked as I didn't notice the other thread until after.

I am new to the forum and have recently bought a 2012 Genesis Sedan 3.8 liter with the premium package. Within the first 500 miles my NAV unit froze completely and would not reboot. I took it to the dealer and they kept it for 2 days and replaced the Head Unit (that is what they said). I got the car back and the very next morning the H screen appeared and froze up. I started pushing all the buttons and when I pushed the phone button I got the initializing Bluetooth banner across the top of the frozen screen.

I could still hear the radio but could not get anything else on the frozen screen. The screen did reset after I got out of work and went home for the day and it has been freezing up at the H Logo screen every couple of days. I have called the dealer and they said to bring it back in. I have another appointment tomorrow afternoon. I will let everyone know what I find out.

I have noticed that when I have audio streaming enabled it freezes more often then when I don't. But it still freezes. I do get in my car and take off immediately almost every time, but sometimes I wait and it still freezes. I am convinced that getting in the car and taking off quickly has nothing to do with it. I am more inclined to think it has something to do with the Bluetooth connectivity and it being wonky.

I traded off my BMW 745Li for this.
