scrolling artist on ipod

is there a quick way to pull up an artist when using ipod, instead of having to scroll all the way through to get to an artist that starts with a T takes like 5 minutes.

Not that I know of. Unfortunately, you can't search by artist within a playlist. If that were possible, you could at least divvy up your collection into a manageable number of playlists (A-G, H-M, etc.) and search them, but you can't.
