  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I was driving ~4 hours to visit my parents. For the entirety of the drive, car thought there was someone on the passenger seat so the seat belt warning was lighting up on the dash and beeping. There was no one but me, and i ended up just buckling up. Anyone run into this issue? Nothing I did seem to stop it

Was there anything at all on the seat?

What did you try? Can we assume nothing on the seat? If not, did you try pushing on the seat to see if the sensor was stuck? Did you shut the car off and re-start it?

There have been cases where people had a laptop, CD player, grocery bag on the seat. Don't recall an empty making the alarm.

I only have that happen when I've put my laptop on the passenger seat, and my laptop is pretty dang light, too. If nothing was on there, I think there must be a sensor that is messed up or something. Sounds like a trip to your dealer is in store...

I had a backpack on the floor and usb cable on it. I moved the cable to the floor even though it'll be pretty stupid if something like that triggered it. I tried pulling over and restarting, buckling and unbuckling, opening and closing passanger door, moving the seat around. I did all of this multiple times. I took it to the dealership today bc i was overdue for my 10k service and mentioned it. It wasnt happening again there so they did nothing about it. It was busy af too so they didnt want to dedicate the time diagnosing it since i went without an appointment, which is fair i suppose.

2005-2010 Chryslers did that when the passenger seat was in the full down position. .

I know you said you moved the seat, did you try raising the seat up a bit? on the Chryslers it was an issue where the ground cable would get pinched when the seat was fully lowered.

On my 2014 my front seat belt warning beeper comes on when there is nothing and no one in the seat. It stays on for about 20-30 irritating seconds and then turns off. The dealer tells me it is faulty component and (equivalent to) a $US700 repair (I'm in Australia) repair. I'll try raising the seat as someone suggested but I'm wondering if I can just have the alarm disconnected legally as it isn't really important to me - I always check seatbelts on any kids in the seat anyway. I'm surprised no one else seems to be having quite the same problem.
