If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seat ventilation option - does it really work?

Anyone find that the seat "cooling" ventilation really makes a difference. Sounds good in the sales brochure but doesn't seem to offer me any sort of relief on the road. Am I missing something? I have a 2nd Gen with Tech option 3.8 engine

I was also expecting more air flow from the seats. I always find my self using them on max. One thing I have noticed is that I feel cooler air when the rear vent is open.

I think it must input air near the air conditioning vents for the back seat. I feel quite a bit of cool, especially on my lower back. About as good as my 2009 after 5 years,

From what I've read, it's not actually an air conditioned seat - it's just pumping cabin air (cool air if AC is on) through the seat. So, I 've found that it kind of depends what you're wearing If I have jeans on I don't feel it in the seats bottom as much, but with shorts or light pants, I definitely feel it. I do typically feel it in the back as I'm wearing light shirts/tee shirts this time of year. My wife loves it - we had her car at the beach the other day and she commented on how she missed the ventilated seats on the way home!

I think it works very well. It works just as good as my Lexus LS430 did.

So I guess for it to be effective, the rear seat a/c vents should be closed, so more air will pump to the ventilated front seats

I didn't think it worked that way (but could obviously be wrong). Hyundai says "ventilated" seats; not "air conditioned/cooled" seats - so I don't think they are directing air directly from the AC ducts directly into the seats? My understanding was that a fan (you can hear it) is just pushing cabin air from under the seats up though the seats?

Hmmm... I'll have to try that. I've never been impressed with the effectiveness of the seat ventilation. My Azera was the same as my new Genesis -- "meh". I guess my expectations were too high; expecting cool air to come out of the seat when entering a hot car. In practice, by the time I notice that the seats are cooler, the whole cabin is. Perhaps I will notice a difference by turning the rear vents off.

Mine is cooled (2013 Equus Signature). First thing I do every time I start the car is hit the cool button.

In first gen, there is info on cooling from the back seat ducts. I agree with above I feel it cooler when the back seat system is open and flowing cool air. It works good enough for me, on high. The lower speeds wearing pants and full shirt does not provide much ventilation.

I will say that I think this worked better in my 2011 4.6 than it does in my 2015 5.0 but I still like it and I am in dress pants, shirt and tie most days.

I have sat in my car with just the engine running (no radio) and noticed that the seat HEATERS also seem to ventilate. I hear the same whirring sound as when it is set to cool HIGH. Anyone notice this too? Very subtle

Probably just the extra portion of beans you had. :D

Over time the seat cushion will compress and make the ventilation less effective. This is the case with my 2007 LS460. I always keep the ventilation on high but feel very little. When I test drove the Genesis within a short time I could feel cool air coming up.

This is purely subjective, but I tried closing off the vents in the back seat area, and the ventilated seats did seem to be cooler than previously.

My 2g works okay, but not as cool as my 1g was. The 1gs had peltier devices in the seats that did actually cool them, but as the seats aged they started to clog up the perforations (at least they did in mine) that affected the efficiency of the devices thus limiting the cooling properties. The 2g only circulates cabin air but may be able to remain more efficient through it's lifetime since it doesn't actually do any cooling. We'll see.

I wonder are the seats supposed to be " COOLED" or "VENTILATED"?? if you think about it, two very different things......

and mine are pretty weak sauce too. the benz e-class cooled seats are to die for comparing to these.

Mine feel OK, about the same as my 2011 Infini FX50... Not great, but OK...
