  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good post....surprised my dealer didn't take care of this when I bought my car a little over 5 days ago. I know the notice to owners doesn't start until tmw but dealers are supposed to complete all recalls prior to delivery. Checked my VIN and it is still showing incomplete.

I also plan to take pics of the trunk before the dealer does the work so I can fight off the inevitable "that was alreadly there" if they do damage something.

Very good point. I too will snap pics and video with that days newspaper so they can't say the pics were before the damage. :D I will go one step further to email it to my service advisor before I drop off the car.

Based on the number of hoops the service tech has to jump through to do this retrofit owners better plan on leaving the car for at least a day and securing a loaner car. Where actually is the water making its way into the trunk lid?

When I brought mine in this past weekend for an oil change they did the recall. I watched (from a distance) as they did the recall process. It did not take more than 30 mins start to finish to complete. I checked the work afterwards, everything is back the way it was.

Yeah I didn't even know they were doing the recall as they did it while I was having them look at my head-unit.

That is good to hear. Thank You

my dealer took about 10 minutes to perform. The cost was about $20 in parts(no charge to me). All they did was take out the tail light and add rubber stoppers inside and closed it up. Done.

Well, I had mine done and the tech screwed up replacing the trunk lid trim. I didn't notice until I got home. He ripped the felt just beside the trunk open/close buttons (item C , step 3) and also neglected to replace two of the four trunk lid trim retainers.

Needless to say I am NOT pleased and have called the service dept. I need to bring it by later this week when I get back to town.

Thanks for posting the PDF of the process. It will be very helpful in my discussion.
