  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

One of the selling points is having the car picked up & delivered for service appointments. What about those of us in more rural areas? The closest Equus dealer is about 100 miles from here. Are they still going to pick up the car for regular maintenance? Will they sub it out to the local Hyundai dealership? It makes more sense to drive the car 3 miles for service than a 200 mile round trip.

My grandparents' LS460 is awaiting its appointment for their valve spring recall and after a string of LS430s it may be their last Lexus if they try out an Equus. I'm just wondering how the service plan works outside metro areas.

My question is almost like yours. If I buy an Equus (Horse) at my favorate dealer, who is 25 miles away, will they still come out, leave me a loaner, while they take my Horse in for service? Meanwhile, there is a Horse dealer just 8 miles away, which I don't use.

Another question, (goes for either the Horse or the Genesis), if I ever had a breakdown, and the car needed to be towed, after calling the Hyundai Road Service people, would they have to take it to my closest dealer service department (which I don't trust and can't speak with the technician, much less look into the service department), or would they take it to my favorate dealer where they treat me like a king? Good questions huh?

I can tell you that my dealer is 55 miles away and they said that they would come pick it up anytime I needed them to and would bring a Equus or Genesis for me to drive and also wash the car and replace whatever gas was used. I was there yesterday to pickup my Ipad and I had a small warranty issue with a broken plastic piece on one of my cargo hooks and they were going to drive to my home to replace it for me! I declined and took it with me as it was only one 10mm bolt to remove and I had driven my truck as the roads were bad. My only concern is do I want some kid driving my new car 110 miles each time? I will probably take it in myself to get oil changes done.

I'm pretty sure that the 100 miles won't matter to them. A deal is a deal, and I didn't see any fine print re distances. Of course you could always call and ask to confirm.

Personally, I don't see myself using the service. The dealer is a known quantity to me, and I don't mind rubbing elbows with lowly Genesis shoppers.
Hee.

That's a good point -- they don't have to use the service. We like the local dealer too. We bought the first Azera they sold and the second Genesis. The fact that maintenance costs are included with purchase may require an Equus-specific dealership though.

Waiting 30 minutes for an oil change wouldn't be all that bad. It beats what the closest Lexus dealership did to them with bogus charges on their 05 430. For a standard service visit there were items like "2 quarts heavy weight gear lube" and "wiper blades" on the invoice even though the differential wasn't touched and the car still wore the silicone blades I installed when the car was purchased six months prior. Because of that they bought the 460 from a different dealership and now use them for all service work.

I believe I read that it has to be within a hours drive.

Hey, that's a great selling point. The service departments around here could use some renovations. Not having to go there at all would be fantastic! Color me jealous!

Semi-lurker here: I own an '08 Azera Ultimate; but dad just bought an Equus Ultimate. He lives in the "West Ashley" area of Charleston, but bought from the same dealer I did here in Columbia SC. It's about 130 miles each way - they showed him the 100 mile clause and told him to ignore it: they will gladly come drop a Genny on him and ferry his horse each way for service as required. There is no Equus-qualified dealer in Charleston (yet). :grouphug:

Pretty much - if you're willing to go the toll, they're willing to go the extra mile - or three (or thirty)... :p
