  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Shake Rattle and Roll

If you don't mind me asking, what is the build date on your car? It is located on the inside of the drivers door jam. Mine is July 8th, 2014.

Mine is March 20th 2014. Looks like I got one of the early production ones where they were working out the kinks! :(

I am sure if you keep on them they will make it right. If not, get HMA involved.

Mine's at the dealer since Saturday for its first service and to check the sunroof rattle (first time it's been back). Just spoke to them and they confirmed they hear it. They said they ran through some diagnostic procedures that should eliminate it (so must be a common issue), and it did seem to clear it as they confirmed with test drives. However, in a subsequent test drive yesterday they said it came back. The good news (hopefully) is that they have a Hyundai engineer visiting tomorrow to look a another car (not sure what for) and they are having him (or her) look at my sunroof issue as well. I'll let you know what they find.

FYI, mine has production date of May 7, 2014.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wow, you gave up a GS 350 F sport! I was eyeing the GS alone (no F). But little too much for me to pay at this time. Look forward to hearing your results.

When my wife was looking for her IS I looked at the GS 350 F Sport and liked it a lot.

Comparably equipped its about $10k or so more than a Genesis 5.0 Ultimate. Put the Genesis in Sport mode and the handling is still not where the GS F is, but that car weighs almost a half ton less. Still, the Genesis out accelerates it.

I find the infotainment system in the IS is not as easy to use as the Genesis and I believe it has the same one as in the GS as the IS has nav, hd, Sirius, etc.

The real question is fit, finish and quality of the materials used. I don't apologize for the Genesis at all. Before the IS we had a Benz SL and we've looked at BMW, Audi and Jaguar. I think the interior of the Genesis compares very favorable. Leather, carpet, dash, etc. all look like they'll last, but time will tell.

The only area where I think Hyundai could have used better materials is on the transmission tunnel.

Obviously, I voted with my wallet but to me, its hard to find the extra $10k in the GS.

When you talk to them, see if you can find out why the Hyundai Engineer was there for on the other car. That could be useful information for us all in the future.

Mine is going in on Tuesday for this. Will update you all then. Mine seems to be getting worse. I can now hear it when the liner is closed.

I loved my GS F Sport, but moving from Texas to Indiana it was barely driveable last winter (RWD). Changing to winter tires is not something I like to do, so I opted for AWD and the 2015 Genesis was the best equipped car for about $10k less than my RWD GS cost me 2 yrs ago (without some of the goodies like LKA, power folding mirrors, adaptive cruise control). Like I said, I NEVER had any issues with that GS, just regular scheduled services in 18 mths.

I did my research and based on reviews I thought that Hyundai finally got their act together and produced a quality vehicle in the 2015 Genesis and so I bought my first Hyundai. The sunroof debacle will tell if it's also my last Hyundai. :(

Hyundai Engineer agreed there is an issue with the roof- they are pulling the headliner to further try to isolate the source. He said they may need to replace the entire roof. They're keeping it for the next week to address the issue.

Who makes these sunroofs? Do they come from OEM suppliers that customize them to the Hyundais specs? All of these pano roofs seem like they are probably made by the same manufacturer and if so the supplier should be able to help Hyundai sort this mess out. Is this correct or do I misunderstand the situation somehow?

I have a small rattle that sounds like it is coming from the driver's side, up near the windshield. I thought it might be a leaf stuck outside against the windshield, due to the sound (very minor, repeating "Tick-tick-tick" sound). Odd thing is that it is not noticeable below 35 mph, but really annoying at 70 mph though. It gets worse with speed, so I am thinking something outside the vehicle. Anyone have any ideas? I would hate to have to take it in and drive a loaner, I've become spoiled by my Genesis.
