  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Shop recommendation in Houston

Greetings all.

I am interested in having someone work on beefing up the exhaust on my '12 R-Spec. Can anyone recommend someone in the west Houston area? Katy area would be ideal.

Thanks in advance!
Robb

OK, how about in the greater Houston area?

Thanks,
Robb

Most people get just a muffler swap done (Dynomax VT or Flowmaster are the popular choices), any shop with a torch and decent weld skills will be able to tackle it.

Other than that, you have the bolt-on cat-backs (Magnaflow or Borla) and bolt-on axle-back (Motorsports Authority [Who also have an X-pipe that replaces the center resonated section]). You also have test pipes to delete the secondary cats, Motorsports Authority sells them for the Sedan, but as I have found out, test pipes for the 3.8 Coupe also work.

Let me know if/when you find a good muffler shop. I too am in the Katy area and am looking to put on some Dynomax VT's myself. I refuse to go to one of the big name exhaust places. It would be like going to a Jiffy-Lube. I won't trust 'em.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It would be a bit out of your way but google FMG Exhaust in Highlands, Tx.
They are pro's and installed my Dynomax VT's...not easy to do.
IMO the VT's are the only good mufflers for these beautiful cars.
They are quiet, no drone, but when you stand on it the flapper valves open up and suddenly your docile sounding car goes from mild to wild.

What did the install cost? I have to work in Bay town several times a week so the Highlands is not too much out of the way. At least compared to work.

Remember this is a sleeper flowmaster on a Genesis Rspec cmon ...VT are an excellent choice but very hard to hide completely underneath some of the muffler will be visible (VT), for that reason I installed Borla pro xs . Sound is exactly what should come out of these SLEEPERS.

can anybody say if the VT's are making offset, offset now which are the only ones that fit and not be visable.
